Hank-
You are providing a great service. I always know where to turn when I can't find the answer I need. Keep me on board.

HI ALL!!

HI ALL!!

oops!!! guess i had better post huh???

sorry i "left" but nothing has happened with victor yet. he stopped working for 2 months, nearly went insane, and so started working part time. so far so good. we are walking that narrow line, here, because he isn't really a good candidate for surgery. we're hanging in.

i know i should hang around more and i truly do hope everyone is well as can be. you are in my thoughts so often.

be well,

shirley and victor

I'm in Hank!

I know I don't post much as my work takes me to all sorts of out of the way places. But please keep me on Hank. I still do lurk these halls from time to time to check up on all of you and to listen to all the goings on. Since I had the zipper installed on 7-17 01, I have been holding my own. Went back to the cardio for ann. check up and found out my cholesterol was over 275 so zorcor here I come. I have since tried my darndest to eat a more healthy diet and have started a walking program ( 5 miles a day ).
Good health to you all and live long and prosper.

I have been a reader of messages but not a writer. This is my first and I've been registered about 18 months. First, I must thank all those who post the answers to my many questions. It has been a relief to me to know that others have been in my place and are able to communicate their experiences. I do wear my VR sweatshirt to my cardio's office in an attempt to encourage others. I have given the site address to others also, in hopes that they would find answers to their questions.
Please keep me on the site. Thank you. FGV

I missed this earlier and didn't see the post from our old friend Bob Gleason.
Hope all is well with you Bob, it's been a while.

Hi all.. sorry for not visiting more often... things have been rather hectic around here. Work is going well but I am very busy... lots of projects to be completed this summer.

We went to Seattle where I was evaluated for a stem cell transplant. I heard what I wanted to hear... they don't believe I need a SCT at this time, but do recommend stem cell harvesting to use as backup in case I have a relapse of CML (leukemia). Not sure if I will follow through with it though... costs $13K for the havest and 5-years of storage (frozen), and insurance doesn't cover it.

Will have lots of company in the next two months.. think I'll install a revolving door lol.

Take care,
Zazz

:) Hey Zazz,

Good to hear from you...Hang the cost..go for it!!!!! HEY...They can't eat ya...you'll just be in debt forever...aren't we all! If you were to relapse..God forbid...there's no amount of money worth the possible help that might be available down the road! You're brave and have endured more than most with a great attitude. Don't stop now....JMHO...Hang in. Prayers with you and family!

I remember when I joined the group...there weren't even 150 people here! Now there are over 700 members here, and I continue to be amazed. Nancy, Christina, Gina, Hensylee, Kevin M, Ben Smith, RobThatsMe, Rain, Mara, and Mindy are some of the most memerable people that welcomed me here. Since then, so many have joined us, and made this a very wonderful family. By the way...where is Mindy? I haven't seen her or heard from her in so long! Hank, this is a wonderful site that you started. I just wanted to thank you all for supporting me, no matter what has happened. I appreciate it!

Hi Hank,

I want to personally thank you for this site. I appreciate it so much. I am still in the waiting room and learn so much from all the wonderful people here and the links to other places including our sponsors. God Bless.

Looks like Hank wants to see all our smiling faces?! Here's mine! Good grief, PLEEZE don't delete me!! I've been busy working on my new web page. I'm making a Valve Job page on it, with my story and all. Otherwise, feeling good at 14 months, all recovered from the wire removal, playing a lot of tennis, getting ready for a trip to Japan (my fourth, with work) and then a side trip to Bangkok (for fun!)

It's nice to see everyone here! I do check in fairly frequently to read up a bit, especially in Small Talk, to see how everyone is doing (and keep tabs on Rosso!).

Hello "old" friends, I know my Dad has most of you beat - he will be 83 on August 24. He received his aortic valve replacement Sept. 2001 (we were in hospital - Cleveland Clinic - on 9/11)..... He is doing great.
He and my mom bought a second home in Florida - they live here (in Ga.) about 7 months and then move down to Fla. when it gets cold. He walks faithfully every day - rides his bike - has a garden - cuts his own grass (about 3 acres)..... Before his surgery he got winded walking up a slight incline. It has been such a blessing!! My kids enjoy having their granddad around every day.
Thanks for all the support and information I received here - I am so thrilled this site is growing and helping others every day. Thanks Hank and All!!
Cindy
