hello

hello

I am 1 1/2 years post valve repair. I saw the doctor last week and everything is great. I feel good and it is hard for me believe that I ever had surgery. I played ice hockey this past winter and now I am playing baseball and ball hockey.
I have not been on line in awhile but do think of what a great support this site was for me when I was preparing for surgery. Thanks.............:)

What a neat thread - since I've only been around since March, I had no idea all of these neat folks were lurking out there. Nice to meet all of you.

Well.....
I have reread this thread Sunday morning. I was blah, but now I see many that I remember from a year ago.
Now, you guys have given me the drive to do my Sunday chores and take care of a new passion, roses!!!!

Just Checking in to say Hi!

Just Checking in to say Hi!

Hi everyone...

I'm doing well. It's been 2 years since I had my Aortic Valve replaced. To all of you out there who are getting ready to go through the surgery, just know the God is good. This forum helped me tremendously. Just knowing that there were so many people out there who had successfully gone through the surgery and where able to give kind words of support was so helpful and reassuring. Hank, this website is a God-send. It is spritually uplifting for the patient and the famiy before, during and after surgery. Thank you. And thank you to all of you who thoughtfully post your contributions on a daily basis. Talk to you soon.

Tomorrow will be 10 weeks since my surgery and I am getting better everyday. This is a Marvelous site and I hope all of you will continue to post and give us your feedback and updates. Thanks again Nancy!

Hello to all!

Hello to all!

It's been awhile since I logged in. Last fall I suddenly realized that my leaky aortic valve would require surgery one day, and I thought that day would be *soon*! But I got lucky: after talking with several surgeons and several cardiologists, the universal message was that while I will definitely need surgery at some point, that point isn't yet here.

But along the way, I found this great site, and I am very glad I did so! This is where I found more information -- and comfort -- than anywhere else. So three cheers to everyone and a special thanks to Hank for creating valvereplacement.com!

Just checking in, guess I'm not alone!!

What a great thing for Hank to do. Let everyone know to check in on this great site. It's like looking a photo album, of great friends you made in the past.

Thank you Hank. You have touched so many lives.

Can you believe this thread! Nancy started it, then Hank sent his 'threat' and we ALL came out of the woodwork or wherever we have been. So nice to see everybody. Hey, Jess-missed you.

Can't wait to see who else pops in.:D

Wow so many post

Wow so many post

Wow there's a lot of names here I'm not familiar with, so I have a lot of reading ahead of me.

8 months post-op, still ticking a bit too fast, the sterum is a lot better and needs more healing time, but the scar still gets irritated and red and it's being shown a lot more since summer finally has arrived.

Thr other side

Thr other side

From having been there and done that, over 2 years ago, this site was great. Since it was asked, after a while of passing through ever increasing "small unrelated stuff", looking for the good one can do for the others coming through gets harder and harder. We have a lot more members now and thus the small tidbits get larger and larger. If one remembers to put the "stuff" only in small talk, then it won't get too time consuming. This site is wonderful for those in the early stages of the steps and can be that if we all use discipline. Just a thought.
With thanks to all who helped me, bless you all.

Hi
please keep me on the list.
I'm 4 Months Post autologous stentless aortic valve replacement and doing well.
Thanks for a wonderful space

Hi Nancy and Marty: It's great to see you are both posting. I recall how much you helped me two years ago when I was 77 and very skeptical about having aortic valve surgery. Well, Marty, it is now a year and a half since I went through the surgery and am now 79 years old and still going quite strong. I say I am now celebrating the 1 1/2 year anniversary of my second life. I'm sorry I haven't been on in quite a while but, when I got the e-mail about removing me from membership (?), I felt I had to come back on and check in as often as I can.

I am two years post mitral valve replacement and check this site daily. I have learned so much.....especially about anticoagulation, which is the biggest hurdle I face post surgery. I still have large INR fluctuations which require dose changes very frequently.

Thanks to everyone who posts and shares!!

I have not been posting too much lately, but am delighted to see so many old friends still doing well! Howdy to all of you!

Keep Alive

Keep Alive

I couldn't see a "keep alive" message thread, so I thought I'd start one.

To everyone out there, a big hello. I hope you are all well.

And to Hank. Keep up the good work, you provide an invaluable service to many people, and for that I thank you.

Best Regards
Chris
