    Debbie's feeling better Sunday

I am ten weeks post op and I had a number of funny feelings during that time. My arms would go numb and then recover in pain and would last for about 3 minutes. My leg would go numb and then come back in a couple minutes. Sometimes there would be pain and sometimes not. The cardiologist and...

    Adam Pick's Book

Adam Pick's Book I read the book before my surgery, as did my mom, brother, wife, and my business partner. For me it was an invaluable source of information for a first time (and hopefully last) open heart surgery patient. I would recommend it based on my experience - if you look closely on...

    Aneurysm and Bicuspid Valve

From my reading and what I was told, I thought 5.0 was the AMA surgical guideline for the operation on the aorta. My was initially diagnosed at 4.3 and six years later was operated on at 5.0 ten weeks ago. I had a bicuspid aortic valve and aortic root aneurysm and was healthy going into the...

surgery Wed and very sore throat

My surgery was postponed two weeks for a little congestion in one of my lungs. After going through it, I am happy the surgeon told me to wait. The surgery recovery is very dependent on your lung capacity in my opinion. I would follow what your doctor says; he is the expert.

    Get Well Gift Ideas

One of my friends brought me a number of magazines that I would not normally buy......several tatoo magazines that I could just look at the pictures and a couple issues of Rolling Stone. I really was not up for much in the hospital other than getting on the fast track out of there.

    Maximum HR - Polar monitor

I was told by my cardiologist that if you have a bicuspid aortic valve you are more prone to an aortic aneurism. You need to have this checked before embarking on any exercise program. The aneurism can cause many problems including a quick one way trip to heaven. - Jim
