Spoke to her husband Ed and to Debbie only briefly tonight. Sounds like surgery went well but the meds are not playing nice with each other in her stomach. Lack of sleep and not being able to get comfortable are things that make ICU less then appealing for most of us. Did ask if she caught the license plate number of that truck... she's positive it was actually a train.
She was happy to speak to a recent patient:) and will be even happier to know all you have posted well wishes and concern for her. I will keep everyone up to date tomorrow.

Please let her know that she continues to be in our thoughts and prayers. I am very happy to have met her in person last weekend before her big day! With the breathing tube out, life is so much better even in the hospital and let her know that I think I had that same train slam me ten weeks ago. Now that she is out of ICU, maybe she can get some rest and Ed as well. That ICU is busier than a train stattion during rush hour. All my best to you Debbie and a peaceful and uneventful recovery! - Jim

*grins*

But, was it a freight or passenger train? ;)

Glad that Debbie is out of ICU. Thoughts/prayers coming her way for a continued SUCCESSFUL recovery :).

I am just so happy and relieved that everything worked out for you! Even though you don't feel so great right now your valve is fixed and you are on your way to recovery...it will only continue to get better from here!
Call me anytime!! My prayers continue for you!!

I hope her recovery goes smoothly. Those first few days are NO FUN!

Saturday Night

Spoke to Debbie. All the tubes are out except one IV line:) Sounds like they figured out the right meds for her but her appetite is still not very big. I'm out of town right now tomorrow I will make a more extensive post Sunday night.

Things get better very rapidly in the first week but the first few days are truly tough. Please give Debbie our very best and hope you get rest yourself.

Thanks for the update.

Tom goes in a week or two, and I'm happy that you're on the other side of the mountain, what a great metaphor, and looking forward to when I can say that for Tom.

Take care and very well wishes,

Judith

Debbie,

So glad to hear you are feeling better! I also had absolutely no appetite for days and didn't eat anything more than a bite of jello or italian ice. It will come back slowly and before you know it you will be craving certain foods and feeling much better. I am doing fine, except for a slight infection in my drain tube incision underneath the steri-strips. I have been checking the site every few hours for word on how you are doing and was thrilled to see that you are doing better! I know it's really hard but it will continue to get better each day. TAke care of yourself and let others pamper you!

The first few days I thought "holy you know what, why did I agree to let them do this?" ... But I was and am amazed how when it turns, things get better very quickly ... Everyday it gets better ... hang in there:)
