God Bless all!

My prayers are with you. I'm glad your body finally overpowered your brain. I hope all goes with you & you keep us posted when you can.

Well, I'll probably send him a card. I do wish him well and hope that everything works out for him.

He's different, but so aren't we all.

Best wishes Marco on your Thanksgiving new heart. You'll have something to be really thankful for.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope that someone can post for you and let us know how it went.

Maybe one of our West Coast members can give Harbor UCLA a call and check it out.

LA Cruiser

Has anyone heard anything of LACruiser. His posts have been very disturbing. I hope everything is going good.

any news from the cruiser?? isn't it past his weekend? His site doesn't say yay or nay! Whatever was going on, this person had a need. we were there for him. I was hoping for a responce from joy's post (moron) just to see how it affected his attitude. It seemed to just blow on by.
Is this the end of the trail or is there more around the corner?

There is another thread on Heart Talk started by srweiland, entitled LA Cruiser. Don called the hospital and spoke with Cruiser (Marco). His surgery was postponed until Thursday of this week due to short staffing, probably Thanksgiving.

There are several good wishes there. I sent him a card. This man has come a very long way and made a very difficult choice (for him) to have his surgery in spite of grave misgivings and bad memories from his childhood. He seems to have toughed it out against all odds.

I applaud him wish him well and know that this surgery will make a world of difference to him.

I hope he will continue to keep in contact and let us know how he does during his recovery.

I can't find a reply I just posted a minute ago

I can't find a reply I just posted a minute ago

I was timed-out when I hit 'submit reply' and had to relog-in again and can't find my post.

I'll be having surgery Tuesday morning (if an emergency patient doesn't appear).

I posted an e-mail my Dr. sent a friend that contacted him and can't find it here.

I took 20 minutes typing it but think it erased when I was timed-out and had to re-log in again.

I'd retype it again but I am very weak and have to return to my room.

THX & God Bless all!

My chances, according the surgeons is 90%, NOT BAD (later changed to 80%)!

They haven't dragged me outta here, yet.

They haven't dragged me outta here, yet.

My doctor's e-mail says that the hole in the aorta was 'patched-up' with Ivalon sponge (the only intrcardiac material available at the time).

Apparantly I don't have a pig valve according to this e-mail.

"---The surgery was done before we had volume ventilators, blood gases or artificial valves and before we were stopping the heart. The surgery had to be done quickly and consequently crudely".

Hope they'll let me back in tomorrow (hospital library).

God Bless

Good to hear from you. Glad things are getting explained to you, and that you are scheduled for that surgery! We're all rooting for you and will think of you on Tuesday. You're one of the pioneers. :) If you lasted that long with your "crude" valve job, I'm sure this one will be a piece of cake!

We're definitely with you in spirit, Marco. Thanks for the update.

I've occasionally had problems losing a post on this system. Seems like if something goes wrong, there's no way to recuperate it. Unless Hank (our site founder/administrator) knows of a way we can automatically save or otherwise safeguard our messages until we post them.

I remember reading somewhere about how they did very quick heart surgeries before they had the heart/lung machine which allowed stoppage of the heart and rerouting of the blood flow. I think they cooled the body (especially the brain) down to a really low temperature. No wonder you were so traumatized by it.

It's still a very serious procedure but they've come a long way and can do a much better job now and have much better materials to work with.

Do you know exactly what procedure they will be doing on Tuesday?

We will all be praying for you, especially on that day, and look forward to hearing from you after you sufficiently recover to be able to communicate.

Good luck, God bless, and Godspeed!

Hi Marco-

So glad to see your post and to hear that you found out exactly what was done so long ago. It's truly amazing, isn't it? Imagine that you survived this long with what was termed a crude operation. I say your original surgeon was a real master at his craft. And you are one strong fellow.

With your strength and fortitude, you'll do just fine on Tuesday.

I hope you can post some over the weekend, it'll help to pass the time.

Good luck to you and don't eat any green jello!, LOL:p

Another LA_Cruiser Thread

Hi Marco,
Hope that you noticed that you have another thread going under this same "Heart Talk" category.
You have certainly sparked a lot of interest.
Best wishes to you,
Don from New Mexico

Hey Marco, how are you feeling? I was wondering if you know what kind of valve you are getting? That was probably a stupid question, but I was just wondering...you probably don't want to go through this again! Good luck anyways, and Oh yeah, I printed the other thread off for you. WE're all rooting for you!:D :D :D

by the way to clear it up...I didn't mean to be so harsh on that one post, I was just trying to make my point clear and hoped it would make him go to the hospital. I worry about everybody on this site, and don't want to lose any of you guys!

I am so glad that you made it to the hospital Marco...you did the right thing! I hope you have a merry christmas, and I am glad you are going to make it to this christmas :D :D :D
