My replacement aortic valve is exactly 11 years old today, it was done on the same day of the week too, Monday 6th January 2014. I never expected it to last this long as at 3 years old the pressure gradients across the valve became high and my aortic valve effective orifice area very small….been that way now for 8 years and absolutely no symptoms at all. I’ll have my regular annual consultation with cardiologist for echo done by him in March, or before if I get any problems.

Very Good News that you are doing well and that the valve is lasting well

what is the size of the aortic valve orifice at your last echo?

Hi Mike - at last echo last March the effective orifice area of the valve was 0.74 cm sq/m sq, the same as back in 2017 when the pressure gradients rose - last March the peak gradient was 51 mmHg and mean gradient 30 mmHg
