Glad to hear this news, Nancy . it's been a long 3 weeks for you both.Pray he will continue to improve every day.:) Bonnie

I just want to echo everyone else's sentiments. I know every bit of improvement encourages you but you still must be exhausted. I hope a roll-a-way or something can be set up in his next room so you have a chance to get your feet up and maybe even nap a little. Thanks again for the update, Nancy. You know you are in our hearts and prayers and in some measure we are there with you and Joe. Love & Hugs to you.

Dera Nancy:

I am so glad to hear the good news. I actually am impressed that he made it!
If course your attitudes of "never give up" shows really well here.

At this point, I am confident that with your help, he will be back home within a reasonable length of time.

Best wishes, and we will keep you both in our prayers.

Marybeth

I can't add any more to all the thoughts and wishes. You two have been constantly in our thoughts and prayers.

Nancy, I'm so thankful and relieved to hear the progress that Joe is making. Tell him to keep up the good work. I will continue to pray for you both. Please take care of yourself. I can only imagine how tired you must be. You are a very strong person, Nancy. LINDA

Nancy,
Thank you for keeping us updated as I am sure you are exhausted as well. Please give my best to Joe and I hope his recovery is steady.

Nancy.. continued hugs((((((((((((Nancy/Joe))))))))))))) Prayers, and well wishes being sent your way!:)

Dear Nancy,
What a rollercoaster you have been on. I feel so bad for all you and Joe has been through. You both have my sincere best wishes and lots of prayers.

God Bless!
Susie

Glad to see the latest update on Joe! That is great that he is moving to a regular floor. I hope they can build up his strength quickly so he and you can get out of there!

Also hope that they can keep his dietary sodium where it needs to be without too much of a problem.

You take care!

Nancy:

I'm echoing everyone else -- good to hear that Joe is doing better.

Will be out of town this weekend (judging a cat show in Houston area Saturday), but am taking my laptop w/ me to check in on Joe.

Re: Low sodium diet

Re: Low sodium diet

One good thing about dialysis---

I spoke with the renal doctor and we were talking about Joe's very restricted low sodium diet. She told me that she keeps her patients on a 2000mg sodium restriction, which is much higher than what he is used to and more normal. So she said this would probably seem like a treat to Joe.

Dialysis takes care of the CHF, as long as you keep to the renal diet.

Right now, he is on tube feeding, so we don't have to worry about the diet.

At any rate the hospital he's in is the only one that tried to address his very low sodium diet. The dietary dept. here has been terrific.

DearNancy:

I may have missed something here. Is Joe going on dialysis permanently, or do they think they will be able to wean him off? Also, was his heart damaged from the heart attack?

And, as importantly, how are YOU feeling? Are you able to get enough sleep?

I know in July, after the stress I was under, I got very sick...pneumonia and bronchitis for 6 weeks. Please watch out for yourself.

Marybeth

Hi Nancy, Gee, I hope Joe enjoys a little bit of salt while he can do so safely! I had no idea that it wasn't a problem while he is on dialysis...and following the renal diet. Hope that they can get the feeding tube out soon and that he can actually enjoy a meal!

And echoing the others, YOU need to get some rest.

Takce care,
