Burair

Sweet! Thank ya ;).

BTW, missed you at the Spaghetti Supper Saturday....hope all is well :).

For those that might be afraid as I am of of puttting on a two piece. We made a t-shirt for a retiring priciple of a school I work for and we took t-shirts and drew bikini on them for his party it was a so funny. the whole staff made their creation and we learn a dance it was great sent off for him. Of course we did off school grounds so there sould be no talk of *** decremation. It was done in good taste even his wife got in on the fun.

Seems that the 14th of May is almost unanimous -- except for one person, please let me know if you cant make it on the 14th, there is still almost a month before I book the Users Center and the barbecue grill outside the village barn ( it is a real farmyard barn converted for use for weekly "barn dances" -- but now they have been moved offsite after security at the lab was enhanced ).

I am sure there are more people in/around the area who would like to come, I think Georgia was disappointed to have missed the last gathering -- not sure if she knows about this, I'll try to contact her...

My physical condition is getting better ( along with the weather ), I have even been in increased demand as a tour guide :) ( did one more tour for some people from my wife's school ) and have a few more ideas for a tour this time around -- I think we'll go on a short prairie trail hike, there are still parts of the Fermilab prairie preserves that I havent explored -- but I will in the early spring. I also want to see the new neutrino experiments that have been recently commissioned, I've heard they are an impressive sight as well.

Glad to know you are doing better, Burair!

And...each time I see this thread, I get more excited about the gathering in May! Definitely looking forward to it :).

We are looking forward to it as well. And hoping for a great day with the weather so we can enjoy Fermi's outdoors fully.

Hi Burair,

Believe I responded to another thread. Anyway, 5/14 is great for us. Count us in for 3!

Please let me know if we can bring something. Side dish, dessert, etc? Drop me a PM. I can give you my # and email address if you would lke to chat further.

Thank you for organizing. Greatly looking forward to it. Let's pray for a warm day!

Hello, Burair,
I am fairly sure that I can come. Not sure who's coming with me yet, but I will let you know closer to the date. Thanks for organizing this.

BTW, Cort, I'm glad you're letting the ACHA members know about this. When I came up last June, I met with several of them at the Olive Garden and would like to see them again.

Awesome! Guess I hadn't realized that you had come up for that ... the one I missed while I was away (I think for the MC Nationals)....

I wasn't sure if we should have this a "blended" gathering or not, but the more I thought about it, the more we keep seeing people exclaim that they thought they "were the only ones" ... and I figured the more people we meet, the better. My car-related (mostly Monte Carlo, of course) message boards/groups intermingle ... so, why not the heart lists/boards as well? ;)

I just hope somebody posts a reminder to the CHD Webring Yahoo group...since I'm no longer able to post there....

My schedule is certainly start to "heat up" with spring/summer activities....just wish the weather would cooperate....heh.

What is this reunion thing all about. When-Where-What-Why-Who??

Hayden,

All the members in the Chicago "area" (meaning whoever wants to drive that far) are getting together the second weekend in May at Fermilab west of the city.

Burair (PappaHappyStar) works there and lives on site with his wife and son. He will be hosting the mini reunion.

If you want to join everyone, send an email or PM to Burair and he will give you the details.

Hope to see you there. BTW - there is also a regular reunion in Las Vegas in October. Check out the reunion forum for more info on that one. Details have not been decided yet, just the date and city.

Time to toot

Time to toot

the trumpet...

Fermilab weather is looking good and promises to get better just in time for ......

The VR.com Spring Extravaganza

Enjoy the sunburnt prairie trails, go wild on the lab lakes, greet the ubiquitous Canada geese, have an intimate tete-a-tete with a buffalo or two ( or the whole herd ) and hope for a chance encounter with one of the labs unknown elementary particles all on a balmy mid may spring day ( as alice would say ).

The lab is 50 miles west of Chicago and is the highest energy running artificial elementary particle collider in our neck of the universe.

Hi Burair: Sure would love to come and meet you guys. I'll have to talk to my wife about it. We're just putting our house on the market and have a bid on another house here in town. So, will have to wait a little bit to see if we can even consider it. I have two sisters in Knox, Indiana and may be able to swing by to see them also. What time are the festivities on the 14th? You may have said, and if so I'm sorry. Thanks!

Sounds like you'll need a little mini-vacation by then. Come join the fun.

Come anytime -- preferably in time for a barbecue lunch ( this will be around noon )-- dont think the event will ever "officially" end, so stay as long as you want. It is probably possible -- if people come from far away and want to stay over -- to rent a 3-bedroom house in the village for the weekend ( rates are around $35/day for houses -- have to check with the housing office if they have a place etc. ) and have a sort of VR sleep over. Dont know if this appeals to anyone ...

INTERESTED! - have to stay somewhere and this is more than reasonable - it's downright cheap. Saves more money for food & drink (and cheesecake :D :D ).

I checked online the rates might be $40-45 per night for a 3-bedroom place ( nothing fancy -- 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen + 1 bath and completely furnished with linen service -- no cable but free calling within the US ) -- we'll probably have to rent it for the weekend but its really cheap if people want to stay for a couple of days and dont mind sharing

I will talk to the housing people on Monday and get the Users center sorted out next week as well -- then the only thing left will be the agonizing wait ( especially for that cheesecake :D )

Thanks for looking into some lodging options. I or we will probably need something since it's a six hour drive.

*pssst*

Burair...don't forget to post your newest update to acha, too :).

Hey, Cort, do you think Kent (ACHA) and his wife will be coming? He's one of the ones I met that night at Olive Garden. Very nice gentleman. :)
