I'm five weeks out today. When I start to walk, I feel like I'm in my 20s again. I lived in the country, and we walked miles to get anywhere. I know I could just keep putting one foot in front of the other all day again. I couldn't do that before the new valve.

And people say you don't get the full effect for almost a year.

My heart is quiet now. I often don't even hear or feel it. It has been years since that was the case. It's like a new car - you tend to try to start it again when it's already running, because it's so smooth and quiet that you don't realize it's already been started.

Once you're settled in with it, you'll like it. The waiting is the hardest part.

Best wishes.

Going down to Ann Arbor, U of M, this friday the 15th at ten, for some tests. Doc has looked at the TEE and felt confident he could repair my mitral valve. Going to run some tests so they don't have any suprises. Just going for the day so hopefully nothing too complicated. Surgery on th 26th. Thanks to everybody for all the support and sharing thier experiences. Gordie
