Hey all,

Just checking if it’s classed as invasive treatment for getting a filling? One of mine has came out and need to get it replaced tomorrow but I’m not sure if I would require antibiotics for this. I was under the impression it was for dental cleans, getting tooth out or root canals?

What’s the general thoughts on this?

Hi

Morning my dentists (and my) view
I was under the impression it was for dental cleans, getting tooth out or root canals?
that's also consistent with what I know. There is a nerve (therefore blood) in the center off the tooth, but that should not be exposed.

Good luck with the filling

I am also in the UK. The dentists and general recommendations in the UK are out of line with international norm.

My cardiologists insists on antibiotic cover for everything dental, expect a checkup. He said that there has been a visible and statistically significant pickup in endocarditis since the recommendation for antibiotic cover was dropped.

I would insist on antibiotic cover for a filling. Too risky. Why take the risk? Better safe than sorry.

I would take the anti-biotic.......better safe than sorry.

So I’m in the waiting room now and took my antibiotic an hour ago. I wasn’t sure if getting a filling would mean I need it but I didn’t want to take any chances.

Thanks all!
