My scar is 11.5" long. After 11 years it has faded to a pinkish white line that is about 1/4" wide at the widest point. I have 4 chest tube scars in various locations to either side of the main scar. These are about 1" each, also faded to pink/white.

All in all, not too bad for 3 OHS.

You guys have me laughing! Cory, I think your scar looks just fine. Did they shave your chest and that is all regrowth already?

Yes, but it was actually me that did the shaving!.

Thank you

I had similar problems with dark color bars and blockiness when trying to load my pictures.

Thanks for posting your scar photo and not leaving Cory and me flapping in the breeze by ourselves, Jess. Much appreciated!

Best wishes,

Hey guys!
I don't have a digital camera!

Seriously, I think because mine was glued, it looks really thin compared to the pictures you've posted.

Hello Folks,

I am three weeks post op and think my incision is coming along ..ok.. Anyway, here is a picture for the records... It helps you feel more "normal" when you get to see that your not the only one. Thanks,

Tom ( I have little experience putting pictures in this type of email, hope it works... if not, I'd be happy for some guidance! and I'll re-try)

ok..here we go...today is my 7 week post op celebration...7 inch scar...and ya know...now that i look at the pic...i had no idea that my tattoo was going to look like he is showing people my scar...guess i should have thought about that 10 years ago on my 21st b-day...damn yager...lol

oh yea...fyi...anybody putting a pic up here...save it as a .gif file...that is the only format i could use to get rid of the discolor issue.

Why is the color so weird on my attachment? Why oh why... :D[/QUOTE]

Are you sure you aren't turning into the incredible hulk here? That is what it reminds me of. LOL!

I tried to up load a picture...

I tried to up load a picture...

But even setting it to vga the file was too large 640 x480. Andrew's scar is 9 1/2 inches and looks pretty good I think. I had also taken pictures about a day after we were home cause I thought it was a little red. It has cleared up nicely. However those skickys from his holter still need to be cleaned off. Doesn't bother HIM though. :(

Nice Pics MMARCHALL AND TJ.

TJ yours looks almost hidden away by the hair and very little redness after 3 weeks, excellent.

Mmarshall you and I look very similar as you still have the redness around the scar (I think our skin is sensitive). Hopefully my hair starts growing back a little quicker so It can cover it up.

Thx and leep posting your updated pics.

I would like to see 12 and 24 weeks post op if possible

If you try Irfanview.com they have a free, down-loadable resizing site that Ross recommended to me about a year ago. For a picture to work on a VR thread, you have to reduce it to no more than 400 x 300. With irfanview, I always adjust my right number first and usually the left one automatically fits into the 400. You can start on either side to get your size reduction; I've learned over time that the 300 is harder to get with most pictures.

hey cory...i was looking through my phone pics and have some pics i took when i was bored....the fun recovery process...lol so here is the break down for ya and others that are curious.

surgery was on may 31, 2005
1st pic was taken june 5, 2005....about 1 week after
2nd pic was taken 6-20-2005...about 3 weeks after
3rd pic was taken 6-24-2005...about 4 weeks after
4th pic was taken 7-19-2005...which i posted earlier...was 7 weeks after

i did not have my follow up with my surgeon until 6-24 so that is why the first two pics still have the adhesive stuff on the incision...i didnt want to touch it until they said i could....the 3rd pic was after i took all of that stuff off.

I downloaded it and I think it works. i will try to upload the picture. His stickies are pretty messy looking though.

I think it worked. It is very picky though. It wouldn't accept a 400x300 and when i changed to 300 the other one was 225 or something. But it accepted it. :)

This is just shy of three weeks post surgery- last chest tube was out 10 days ago.

Wendy,
The picture posted perfectly!
I think Andrew's incision is healing very well.
I must have been the only person to have my chest tubes joined by a suture line; I haven't seen any others in the pictures that have been posted.

Reused old scars

Reused old scars

Mary they told me they would go in the same spots that they had used last time. Pretty smart of them huh? Otherwise I suppose after a few surgeries the chest would really start to look scarred up.

I too am happy with how it is healling and Andrew is not complaining of any discomfort from his incision. Still some periodic back and neck pain though.

Wendy, I'm jealous, you always said you weren't good w/ computers but got Andrews picture on, while I had to say check Justin's photo page on his CB site lol. His chest looks great tho, I'm so happy everything is going so well. hows the car smell ?lol
Mary This last surgery Justin's chest tube is right at the end of his incision, but it is the first time it was done that way. the last 3 heart surgeries, the tube wasn't close to his incision, Justin always says they look like bullet holes.Actually, his heart surgery at 10 days was between his ribs and around his back and got very infected so even after 17 years it's is worst scar, then he has his pyloric stenosis scar so he is pretty well coverred in thescar department. Thank God he really hasn't had a problems w/ having the scars like a lot of the poor kids do. Which I think is probably since he always had such a great group of friends, soory I got long here , Lyn www.caringbridge.org/nj/justinw

Lynn,
I think we can get Justin's picture uploaded if you want help. I just looked at his carepage and there are several you could use.

You need to pick the picture, right click and select "save picture as" and it will put his picture in a file that you designate. If you have a "my pictures" that would be a good place. Pay attention to what they name it and what type attachment it is (bottom box).

If you download irfanview.com (see previous posts) you can resize the picture to fit the forum's guideline dimensions.

If you want to try it , and get stuck, send me a PM and I'll try to help you out with any questions.
Mary

Thank you Mary.I think I will wait til he gets home tonight (he went to the shore (wildwood) for the day and get a new picture since he is 10 weeks out , unless of course he didn't listen to my threats about sunscreen and shirts, if I have a problem I will definately ask for help since i just learned how to put pics on his page after 2 years, I used to email my pictures to another heart mom and she would put them in for me, there are sure alot of nice people out there Lyn
