I was 58 when I had surgery nearly 4 years ago, and I guess I can thank my surgeon for strongly steering me towards a mechanical valve. Him told “given you are in very good health for your age, if you select tissue, I will see you again” I am also grateful to the board members here who helped me get passed my fear of warfarin. It really is not big deal.

This is undisputed common knowledge at this point. What we are left with is lifestyle choices - i don't want to tick like a bomb, i *hate* warfarin....that's the huddle to get over lol
