Ross, glad to hear she's coming home and that the demerol seems to be working for her. I would have suggested percocet too, but I know everyone tolerates that stuff differently.

Continuing to send good thoughts your way.

So glad that got the pain med situation straightened out and so VERY happy to hear she may be on her way home today. Time to put on that little skimpy nurses outfit and start to work Ross. ;) Also, don't forget the little bell to put by her bedside (or couch side or chair.) :)

Cool Beans Ross!!!

Ross and Karlynn,
I thought Ross was wearing the French Maid uniform???????? I guess he can switch back and forth? He is multi talented and the rumor is he can also multi-task with the best of em! :p :p :p
Seriously Ross, I'm glad things are looking up. I hope you get some rest and can put some of your worries behind you.
Mary

It sounds like you have the pain medication straightened out. I hope so.

As Barry said, everyone's different in their reactions to pain relievers. Of the more potent ones, I like Fentanyl, rather than morphine, and Tramadol for take-home. They're both addictive, of course, but don't seem to have the nausea problems as much as morphine or some of the others. I've never felt any withdrawal issues from them, myself.

However, some people have said they spaced out on them, too. Problem is, when you need them is not the time to have to go trying them all out.

Best wishes to you both for her continued improvement. Ross, please pray for me that I can get the ghastly vision of you in the French Maid's outfit out of my fragile, horrified mind before I go back to work Tuesday.

Only good news,

continuing best wishes...

continuing best wishes...

Ross and Lyn. Home does sound wonderful about now I suspect. Hope the transition goes smoothly. Thinking of you both.

Great news Ross!

Great news Ross!

So glad to hear the Lyn is doing better. I am glad they got the pain meds figured out. Nothing worse that having nausea on top of everything else. I bet the real food tasted pretty to her after not having any for a few days, even if it was hospital food :p Just don't over do things yourself when you get home. If you need help just ask!!

Well, don't let it die just yet. I haven't had an opportunity to say how happy I am to know things are settling down at the Young household. We have a 7 yr old computer nerd for the holidays and I just now got this information. So glad she's home. Hugs for you both. Now it can die.

that's up to you.....

that's up to you.....

Okay Ross. But you both are obviously deep in our hearts so start a new thread anytime to update us -- good or bad. Hang in there!

:) Marguerite

I'm so pleased to hear that it seems the worst is now behind you both. You are very special to us and we laugh with you and also cry with with you....all part of being family.

REMEMBER, $5/10/MO! Maybe you can get them to write off some of it. Write to the CEO of the hosp. Heck, write everybody. Then do it again.
Think again! The minimum they will accept for this first bill is $84 a month, now add the surgery to it. What will it be now, $300 minimum and this is just the hospital. It's to say nothing of ER Physician, Anesthesiology, hematology, Urology, Radiology and God knows who else wants a slice of the pie.

The thread that wouldn't die . . .

Delighted to hear that things are looking up, Ross.

As to the payment: here in Illinois, a hospital/health care provider can't take legal action if one is making a "good faith effort" to pay a bill - regardless of how little the payment is, as long as payment is made every month. I suggest you find out if the same is true in Ohio. My guess is that it is. Further, if you send them a check and they cash it I think you'll be ok. All you can do is the best you can. Even if you take bankrupcy, you'll only have to pay what you can. And they can't touch your car or your house or any 401k or pension money you have saved. (Just watch the time - I think the new bankrupcy law takes effect in October)

This will resolve itself, so just concentrate on Lynn's recovery.

401K? Pension Money?

Now that's a good one!

Ross,

Please don't let them intimidate you. Send the hospital $5 a month and just ignore any rude calls or statements. Eventually they will either accept the payments without hassle or they will turn it over to a collection agency who you can ignore also. The collection people will, in turn, either give up and charge the whole thing off, or deal with the $5/month.

Remember, even those of us on coumadin cannot get blood from a turnip. All businesses (even hospitals) have charge off accounts. They accrue for "bad debt" (read: unfortunate medical situations) on a monthly basis. PM me if you have any specific questions.

We are all pulling for you.

Blood from a turnip, water from a stone. Send them what you can without depleting your living expenses. Even if they do try to get legal on you, no one will take a look at your financial papers and think you're just trying to get away without paying. I would think they will accept whatever they can get. Not sure exactly what the law is right now, but if you were to declare bankruptcy in a particular way, they'd never get any money.
