A big hug and blow-kiss for Katie from our family to yours. We're so happy to hear the good news.

Be well, rest and en-JOY your little princess.

With love,

Yippee!! Yahoo!!
300+ posts after starting this thread I'm overjoyed to see Katie-Lion going home to TX! What a journey you all have had. Safe travels and we'll look forward to hearing about about the welcome home party!

Great news

Great news

wow! that's such great news for y'all. I hope you have a great trip home and I'm sure Katie enjoys being at her own house again. I was watching Katie's updates as close as I could, going through my own second OHR, and I am so thrilled that in the end everything turned out so good. It's hard enough for an adult to go through all this, so a little girl (well, for me she is a BIG girl) like Katie is definetely a trooper!
Please keep us posted on how Katie is doing.

So waiting to hear they all got home safely (don't I sound just like my niece)?

If anyone hears from Janet that they are home, please let us know.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!

Just a quick note: Yes, we are HOME!!! And very grateful to be here! Katie was already outside playing basketball. Kissed all of her tomato plants - and, no, they weren't dead. Had four ripe tomatoes just waiting for her to pick..........for those of you who don't know, Katie loves tomatoes. She would just as soon eat tomatoes as candy. I wouldn't let her kiss Friend, though. (And, yes, thankfully he is still alive, too.) She had to settle for the top of his container. And opened her packages with her princess chair embroidered with Katielion and her Tinkerbell sheets.........and her bunny from Wendy. Thank you so much, Wendy. She loves her bunny. Now Lola has a friend. And MIss Carol and Papa had a huge welcome home sign up and lots of purple balloons.

Katie saw her ped today. She said Katie - amazingly - looked and sounded great. Got her blood drawn for her INR check. 2.6, so we probably were a tad low yesterday AM. Won't check again until next week, though. So I will be sweating that for a while as I know we aren't truly regulated yet.

I screwed up, too! GASP! I made the assumption (and you know what they say about assumptions!)that we would get our own home INR test kit since Tommy did, but they had started all of his insurance garbage way in advance since they knew that a mechanical valve was where they were going. We have all the forms, but I am sure it will be a couple of months to wade through all the redtape, so that's a lot of pokes in the meantime, unfortunately. We called all over today trying to find a place that would do the finger stick INR check. We found a few, but they wouldn't do them on children - only adults! ARGH! Katie was such a trooper about it. This kid totally amazes me. She complains more about the yukky old aldactone than the pokes. She has never questioned why she has to endure all that she does..........I guess that time will come one day..........sigh!

Got Trip registered for school today, too! 7th grade!!!! Where has my little boy gone? HOnors Math and English and he's switching to the tenor sax this year. And, Chris, that roller coaster is awesome! (so much better than this chd roller coaster!) Thank you so much. Now Trip gets to head to Galveston tomorrow with friends. Wish I could go...............

Instead, I get to go back to work tomorrow............huge sigh! Where did the summer go?

Well, I will try and fill in the gaps later..........yes, yes, I know I never filled in the last gaps.........how much does mortar cost? But I am so tired. Guess I'm suffering from train lag. I feel more tired now than I did up there at the hospital. Guess it was the heat of the battle that kept me going........My butt has an APB put out on it as it is somewhere between Michigan and here.......... Mary, it might be somewhere in Missouri.......would you please be on the lookout?

Please keep Tommy and Jerra in your prayers. Jerra is making slow, but sure, progress and continues to amaze everyone. Tommy's parents, however, received a difficult blow. The only option they were give by the cardiac team was that of a transplant. My heart just aches for them. They have been evaluated by the transplant team, but are not going to officially list him until his symptoms worsen. Please pray that this does not occur for many years. He is just the cutest little four year old blonde boy that rarely complains and is so full of life. Please pray for his parents as well as their life of uncertainty continues.........

All of you have sustained me and kept me going these past 3 weeks and six days...........gosh! has it really been that long? and some of you for even longer as you put up with my being a basketcase those last few weeks before surgery. How can I possibly thank you? Many grateful hugs.

Oh, oh, one last thing. Katie ran across the kitchen floor tonight and said, "See, Momma, I can run again." God is good. Much love. J.

I am so, so happy to see this post. The surgery was so traumatic for this darling child, but look how resilient she is, and obviously feeling quite well.

Janet, God bless you, you and Katie have been through terrible times but came out on top!

Hopefully your lives will normalize, now.

So wonderful to read this post, Janet. We are so happy to read how great a recovery Katie is having and what a trooper she is. She obviously has your spunk and fortitude, not to mention your sense of humor. :D Enjoy her in all her glory.
Best wishes,
Phyllis and Dick

Gee Whiz Janet,
This last post made me cry almost as much as the first one!

But WAIT! I do have some happy news!

I found your behind (aka butt) just this side of St. Louis, and I'm going to personally hand deliver it to you!

Yes, I'm going to bring it to Texas with me when we come in December. I know it's a long time off, but hey! you don't REALLY need it , do you? :D
You can put a cushion in your chair at school, and the kids will never notice that you're missing anything! :D :D

Once again, I'm so glad you're home. This story is going to have a happy ending!

This is wonderful news. Prayers are answered. Janet please give Katie a big hug for me. I'm so thankful that she is doing better. Take care.

Hi Janet,
So glad to hear that you are at home and that things are settling down.
You must be absolutely exhausted!!!
Glad to hear the bunny rabbit arrived.
Best wishes to you all and give Katie a hug from us

Crying with happiness here in Ohio. Janet, your family is filled with troopers.

Katie, so happy to hear you are running again.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Great news!

We are very thankful that little Katie has returned home safely. You all enjoy each and every moment and may God continue to bring you great health news and happiness.

Love the Carabellese Family

I'm SO happy to hear that Katie is back in "her" Texas. And running? Wow. I can't even do that! ;) But I sure am glad she can. :D :D

Janet, please don't hesitate to call if you need anything. I've started back to work myself, but will help out where I can. Perhaps once we've settled into the school year we can get together for some R&R time. I'm sure you could use it after all you've been through (and I KNOW I could. ;) ). Give Katie a hug for me if you can catch her!
