40% negative for both candidates. (But it's most likely a vast Right-Wing conspiracy. ) And notice that on Fox Obama actually had a bit more positive reporting than McCain.

i know they are submitting them. that's a legal requirement. that be the law.
they have to submit them. they have no choice. there is no other option.
they cannot decline an application.

i hope i've made this clear. they cannot, by law, refuse your application, regardless
of what sort of crapola goes to fill in the blanks.

has anyone recently used your church address to register and then vote?
has that been contested yet? odds are pretty good for it this year.

It's not our church address that is used. I have not personally done a Place of Residence assignment, but friends that have helped do that say that there are specific steps and specific forms of addresses that are used. It's not randomly picking a place and saying "That's good." This is not just for voting, but for receipt of mail.

Provisional ballots are supposed to be used if a voter's registration is questioned. These provisional ballots are then set aside and checked to see if the voter registration is valid. If it is - it gets counted. If it isn't, it gets tossed.

As I mentioned before, one early voting polling place had so many questionable voters that they ran out of provisional ballots and ended up using regular ballots. Not good.

I'm probably going to raise some ire here, but I don't understand why people feel we have to make it effortless for people to register to vote. It is a privilege as well as a right. Is that not being taught in schools anymore? I was raised with the notion that it was my duty to learn all I could about the candidate, make sure I was registered and then vote. Today we have both parties standing on street corners and going door to door registering people. (I have a friend who's sole volunteer work was going out each weekend in our state and the surrounding states going door to door registering people.) Yes, there are some people who need this assistance. But the vast majority she registered probably just wouldn't take the time to do it otherwise. Then I'm supposed to believe that these same people have given the issues and platforms serious consideration?

My mentally disabled brother lives in a group home in a facility that is many group homes combined. They made sure he was registered to vote and they bus them all to the polls and he casts his vote for who the people who work there tell him to and they are allowed to "help" him cast his vote. He has no idea what or who he's voting for. This infuriates me to no end and it is abuse in my opinion.

You had me there, Ben, until you slipped in "stopped" where most voters in that election would have put "facilitated".

You're kiddin me right?? How is it possible to recount multiple times; but only in certain democratic counties rather than the entire state? And really; counting a dimpled chad as a vote; that could very well disenfranchise a voter who chose to not vote for that race. Let me guess; I need to explain that there is no such thing as a national vote with the exception of the electoral college?

kidding aside, doesn't everyone have the right to vote? if so, then we should take into account those with no permanent address. if they're on any sort of welfare, then maybe can use that disbursement office as residence in lieu of. or what would be your solution?

I would not claim they do not flag some of the questionable ones...but get real ACORN is a liberal group thats soul goal is get the most liberal candidates into office....... Community Organizing at its finest!

Have you ever spoken to anyone who is homeless or has been bussed to a polling station from p[oor neighborhoods?
I have; and they are just plainly lied to by the ACORN folks on the bus. Telling them That their candidate is going to solve their personal issues and get them a roof over their head that they can call their own. Spread the wealth if you will......
You won't have to worry about anything if you vote for the candidate they tell you too. They even show a rendition of the ballot and where you should vote on every issue and candidate.
Do you beleive that is appropriate?
Is that something that keeps the process as it was designed?
Or is it the attempt to STEAL an election?

Point taken and understood. I'm not harping on anyone because of what today is and this thread is. Agreed that other forum issues need addressing, so please folks, mingle away from this thread from time to time and help out where you can.

What really cracks me up is people believing this hype that both candidates are touting. Neither one of them can change a thing without legislative approval and going through the checks and balances. They are proclaiming things that they have no way (and most likely) no intentions of delivering, yet people are buying into it simply fantasizing change.

most folks don't seem to know this, do they? shame our citizens are not better educated.
