I voted a week ago Saturday. I'm pushing for a flat 6% across the board income tax on everyone's gross income, including big buiness. Now which politician might consider this?, Maybe someone with a view towards Change? I'm also pushing ppopular vote only.

here in Ohio a Federal Judge ruled that a homeless person must be allowed to list a park bench as their residence and be allowed to vote...(Talk about legislating from the bench)

i wouldn't worry too much, there aren't that many benches to go around.
anyway, them mean old republicans will be out in force, with torches
and pitchforks no less, stealing park benches (and elections, too) to
prevent them stinky, smelly, most likely minority types from voting for
free beer and crack.

kidding aside, doesn't everyone have the right to vote? if so, then we
should take into account those with no permanent address. if they're
on any sort of welfare, then maybe can use that disbursement office
as residence in lieu of. or what would be your solution?

what about people whose homes have been foreclosed on? as it happens,
there are lawyers now prepping for the inevitable day-after the contest
contest, trying to obtain lists of foreclosed homes, as the address of the
family that's just been evicted no longer matches the voter rolls.

What really cracks me up is people believing this hype that both candidates are touting. Neither one of them can change a thing without legislative approval and going through the checks and balances. They are proclaiming things that they have no way (and most likely) no intentions of delivering, yet people are buying into it simply fantasizing change.

No.

People in the country illegally don't. People that aren't citizens don't. People in prison for felonies don't. People under the age of 18 don't.

The homeless have various ways to declare a residence. Most organizations that serve the homeless are more than willing to help them establish a legal, incontestable residence. Our church is a member church of an organization that provides shelter and meals for the homeless in our area. We help the homeless establish a legal address they can use to register, as well as receive mail.

I agree Ross. Someday I'd love to see a candidate say "These are the 2 things I believe I am able to really get done for our country. To promise you more would be unrealistic and a lie."

Hmmm. Sounds similar to what ACORN is doing to get out the liberal vote.

Park benches, really. Also, I doubt that the voters whose homes have been foreclosed are living on a bench.

acorn flags suspected invalid registrations, but is required by law to turn in all
applications to the local registrar. you wouldn't want private groups to legally
throw out voter applications, would you?

evicted voters may not be living on a bench, but perhaps in a hotel or in a car.
their new location does not match the voter rolls, so this is an opportunity to
have voters disqualified, if one were to be so inclined.

Hmmm....why would the organization submitting questionable applications be the same one flagging them? That seems counter productive to me.
