Looks like it's time to step up the prayers quite a bit. I will start right now. I hope things get better soon.

Nancy,
I hope that Joe weathers this latest storm as he has so many before. My prayers will be with you for as long as they are needed.
Mary

Dear Nancy:

I am not really clear....are they trying to figure out what to do, or are they going to take out that pesky pacemaker? Gosh, you all must be in a quandry. This is a nightmare. - Marybeth

Dear Nancy, I so hope Joe is feeling better soon. I can't tell you how many times I pray things get better for him. I've been thinking about Joe so much lately as I've started the 'low' sodium diet as you had suggested and then as my CHF doc suggested. I can surely understand the frustration of this - there are so many foods with sodium. I'm shocked. I never realized it. It definently very challenging. I don't know how you and he do it.. But I'm sure to be giving it my best shot.. I'm breathing much better without the sodium - so I know its working along with my diuretic.

You and Joe are in my prayers and I pray everything gets better for him. You and Joe have been such an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others with CHF.

I've heard many times about patients with ICD or pacemakers getting infections. The best solution I've heard was to 'pull' it and clear the body of the infection and reinplant another pacemaker several days later. But maybe he won't have to go this route. Maybe they can clear the infection before then. I'm sending lots of positive thoughts to you and him.. Please keep us posted and tell Joe we are all praying things get better real soon.

Best Wishes
Marilyn (runner)

Nancy

I have a long list of nighttime prayers..Joe will be on the top...Let us know..everyday..and what we can do..Bonnie

Nancy, I don't know what to say, except that I am very concerned and check in here often to see if there's anything new. Please take care of yourself, too. I know you will stand strong, as always; what else would you do anyway. I want you to know that I am thinking of you two and caring about you. I can tell how hard this is right now. Love to you both.

Nancy, all our prayers continue to be with you and Joe. I hope you can feel all the love and support being sent to you each day.

Nancy we are praying! I hope they will be able to get this infection under control. I wish there was more I could do for you and Joe but I will keep praying.

Nancy - I'm so sorry to read about this latest turn of events for Joe (..haven't been on-line for a few days..). It seemed he had been doing so well this year - it all seems so unfair.

I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts and I hope the doctors are able to come up with a plan of attack that will have Joe back home and feeling better again real soon.

Best wishes and positive thoughts to you both.

Anna

Nancy, my prayers are going out big time for you and Joe. Thank you for keeping us informed. I was on vacation last week and didn't know anything was going on until yesterday. Please know I am thinking of you and Joe often.

Nancy, you and Joe are on my mind pretty near constantly. I hope that antibiotic he's on does the job and that he starts feeling much better soon. I am thankful that at least the splenic pain has subsided. That's certainly a step in the right direction.

Things are still in a see-saw situation. Some things are sort of heading in the right direction, and some are heading in the wrong direction.

The cultures now are negative. And he's still on Cipro IV. He's extremely weak from the heavy doses of lactulose they were giving him to get rid of ammonia, he's dehydrated. His blood is not doing well, and he may need some units of blood. His heart rate is up to 120 aflutter. So he will be going on Cardizem, which helped him in the past.

The other thing is a new lung sound, which the docs says is rubbing, so they will be doing another chest xray.

I expect tomorrow that there will be some improvement, in his heart rate anyway, and possibly some improvement in his blood levels and hydration. Those things should help him feel better in the short run.

He will be transferred over to a more cardiology unit. Right now he's in the Medical Cardiology unit.

Wish it were a better report.

Dear Nancy:

Just signed on, looking for an update. Sounds just like you stated....seesaw. He must be just completely wiped out. At least it seems like the infection is gone. Does this mean they will leave the pacemaker in?
Thank you for the update. We will be looking for more info tomorrow. In the mean time, get yourself some rest. This has been quite the week for you.
You both remain in our prayers. - Marybeth

Thanks for taking the time to post, Nancy. We think of you both daily. Hope things look better tomorrow.

You and Joe have not left my thoughts. Thank you for taking time to post for your very concerned "family".
