Wow. Leave you all alone for a bit and you go sex crazy. ;)

I seem to have found the pound I lost last week. But I did eat out a couple of times, so that probably has something to do with it. DH has not helped matters by asking for "Taco Mac" (mac 'n' cheese with taco meat) and Taco Bell this week. His version of starting on the weight loss was to eat salad for dinner one day this week. Followed by ice cream, of course.

And, Wise, I too love Olive Garden and almost always do the "Soup, salad, and breadsticks" meal. Nevermind the fact that it's "bottomless" and I LOVE their Pasta iFagoli soup. :p Yum! (Dang it, now I wanna go to Olive Garden! :( )

Hey Niki, I posted a recipe for low salt pasta e fagioli some x months back. It's not as good as Olive Garden's (Yummo) but neither does it have 1500 mg of sodium.

I gained and lost the same 2 lbs several times this week but ended up the same as last week.

I haven't weighed in yet this week. Just got home this afternoon and wanted to weigh in again in the morning and on my own scale. I've been staying at my sister's house while David is in the hospital but I came home today because I have to drive my daughter to college tomorrow. David will probably be in the hospital for another week. I weighed myself on my sister's scale during the week and was up and down. Haven't been eating too much as it has been a pretty stressful week with David' surgery this past Monday but I'm sure the Chinese food on Tuesday night and the corned beef sandwich yesterday afternoon did not help. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning on my own scale and report in. I'm hoping that I at least stayed the same and did not gain.

'Pretty stressful week'?:rolleyes: That might be an understatement! I just admire you for checking in at all. I think since David's doing pretty well I'd be happy scales be damned! Of course if your down you'd be doubly happy. If not though, there is always next week. Hang in there - it's been a rough week!

Nadine ... don't worry about your weight right now ... plenty of time for that when things settle down ... you and Dave are in my prayers....

I've got a loss!

I've got a loss!

Hey Rhena, I wish we lived closer - I know we'd be friends! Thanks for all of the encouragement:).

Well, I figured it could go either way since I wasn't eating right and certainly not exercising (unless you count driving back and forth ;)). I lost almost two pounds - yeah! Thank goodness I did not weigh in the day after the salty Chinese food and corned beef;).

Here are my numbers:

Last weigh in (and starting weight): 137.6 (33.8% body fat)
Today: 135.8 (33.5% body fat)
Weight Loss: 1.8 lbs (.3% body fat)
Goal: 120

This week will still be pretty stressful starting with the college move today, waiting to find out if David needs a pacemaker/defibrillator or not, and waiting for him to be moved from the ICU and then hopefully discharged by the end of the week. Since I usually don't eat much when I am stressed I will probably post another loss for this week (well, at least something good will come out of all of this stress;)).

Nadine

I second that Linda. I think we'd be friends too! Hey - come to think of it now we are friends. Is this your daughter's first year at college or does she know the ropes? My sister is stressed losing her 'babby' to a dormitory - across town mind you- at Univ of Texas. Moving day was still crazy. Keep the faith and keep us posted. Good work on the weight loss!!

Cooker I love the rasta chimp avatar.

Superbob is flirting with the South Beach Diet to lose further weight. However, he has always relished potatoes in every form. They give him energy to leap over tall buildings etc. :D Guess you can add some back in in later phases of the diet. Anyone do South Beach (the diet I mean, not the beach. :)

Thanks, Bina, I started reading the good South Beach Diet Doc's book last night at Barnes & Noble, and he makes a lot of sense. Didn't realize til then that he is a cardiologist, and he started his work on dieting from that perspective. The first two weeks would be a bear -- no rice, potatoes, pasta, bread -- and of course cookies cake, beer (etc) -- he doesn't mention scones, but, alas, I assume they fall under "cookie". :D But after two weeks you start working some of these back in, in moderation of course.

Potatoes would be the biggest sacrifice for me. I love them fixed in all the wonderful ways. They have always been a staple in my household. But I guess I could do without for a few weeks, then eat (sigh) fewer of them (I long ago gave up French fries -- pure junk). But I LOVE scalloped and mashed and baked potatoes.

I'm at my son and daughter-in-law's until Tuesday. She's a great cook. Now you do the math. ;)
