    Two Years Today!!!!

In some ways it seems like it was almost yesterday....but I am very glad it is in the rear view mirror and not just up ahead around the next curve. We never know which way the road is going to turn in our lives; and this was certainly an unexpected detour that was always "up ahead" for the six...

Has valve replacement affected your occupation?

It did not change my occupation although I probably take things a little easier now and have more fun whenever the opportunity presents itself. I do have problems sleeping with that incessant clicking........so I get to work later in the morning and leave later in the evening. Fortunately, my...

    Pre-med for Colonoscopy

Coumadin Strategy Coumadin Strategy I just had mine completed on Wednesday. My doctor said to go ahead and stay on the coumadin but if he found something significant, they would have to go in again to fix it and I would have to be off coumadin a few days. They did the procedure and found a...

Does a Day Go By You Don't Remember?

The constant clicking, pill popping and blood tests makes it impossible to forget. However, I am very thankful that it was ultimately diagnosed and replaced. :D

May 4, 2008 - Southern California Get Together

    large bump

I have a big bump about three inches long and two inches across toward the bottom of my incision. The bump ends at the bottom of my incision. The doctor had it CT scanned a month ago and was told that it was just tissue and fat and it was no problem. Both my cardiologist and surgeon said the...

    Antibiotics before dental work?

A few pills is no big deal. I have been doing it for over 7 years. I would rather be proactive than be full of regret laying in the hospital or the morgue.

Post-op: good and bad days huh?

I am 5 months post-op and I had varying degrees of numbness that would come and go. Dcotors said it was from moving around in your chest and disturbing the various nerve bundles as well as ripping through some of the nerves with the incisions. My numbness/tingling episodes are getting further...

what was you heart rate after surgery

I am five months post op from aortic valve and root replacement and completed my cardiac rehab in early March. My resting heart rate has dropped to around 85-90 and still seems faster than it was pre-op but the cardiologist told me that this is normal and that it will take your heart between...

    Post Operative Issues.....

Lorie - I continue to have sleeping issues at 4 1/2 months out. The constant clicking and having to sleep on my back is enough to make me go crazy. I also have tightness and soreness about my neck and shoulders - massages help this alot. I have been working for some time now and that takes my...

    Thumping heart really bugging me

It is enough to drive me crazy. The doctor says you will get used to it; I have not 17 weeks after surgery. I also have problems sleeping because of the clicking - I turn on the radio or a thunderstorm CD to deal with it. P.S. It is a little comforting to know this is a common problem...
