I'll pray for everyone's safety, too, that all will cooperate with evacuation orders, and that those in charge of the evacuations really know what to do and have the wisdom how to do it right. Authority in unwise hands can be a very frightening thing indeed. It's better to evacuate a few too many, than a few too few--so if it's chancy, err on the side of caution. Things can be replaced, but human lives are unique and cannot ever be replaced exactly the same way again. If the orders come to evacuate, just do it, and make sure your friends, relatives and neighbors within your influence do likewise. Don't try to save everyone, though. Leave them in God's hands if they're too stubborn or stupid to listen. It's not your fault or responsibility at that point.
I'll also be sure to continue to pray that Ike just stall out in the Gulf somewhere well away from land and spend its fury on no-one, then send its moisture somewhere that has been in a drought and replenish the missing water--gently so no flash floods. Meanwhile, I guess some entrepreneur may come up with "I Dis-Like Ike" buttons--I just hope there's no reason for people of a particular state to ever wear such buttons with feeling. Meanwhile, be sure to lift up in prayer the people of the Bahamas, Cuba, and the other Carribean islands already affected by Ike. No matter which country you're in, having your home destroyed hurts--and, except for the grace of God, there blew our homes away as well.
God Bless, and be safe!
Chris
