With eBay out of the picture for obtaining CoaguChek XS strips, I'm aware of Reliaston and SelfCareDepot as reliable sources. There are many others in the US of course but they will only ship to healthcare providers.

The latest expiration dates of the strips available from the two places I mentioned are currently 8/31/2025 and 10/31/2025. That's coming up fast and makes me a bit nervous. Is anyone aware of any other online sources? I'm open to legit Canadian or European shops with international shipping.

Firstly are you sure that wasn't just a "product shot" you are reading and that you got that information in writing (not just in the picture) on the product you were enquiring about buying (not just reading an ad)?

There was recently a robust discussion on that here:

Its also worth keeping in mind you guys are unique in writing your dates in the equivalent of an Olympic Podium (instead of smaller to bigger or bigger to smaller).

American readers please note this is YYYY-MM-DD

The usual maximum expiry date seems to max out at 1 year and 6 months (as discussed above and a few people gave their data).

To answer the question asked

When I was living in Europe I bought from DocCheck, who probably ship to the USA but I would be cautious about how much that will cost, @ATHENS1964 is in Greece and he's said before he'll ship to the USA too.

However I'm pretty sure that @Vu lam will be able to furnish you with strips with maximum length use by dates too.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the link, somehow I had missed that thread during my searching.

In the 9 years I've been using the CoaguChek, I've always been able to get strips with expiration dates at least a year out, until now. It just makes me a little nervous considering the very few suppliers available to us in the States. The international sources you mentioned do give me some reassurance, so thank you.

In a discussion I mentioned my concerns about potential supply chain issues with perhaps only one factory globally. That there is a land war in Europe right now (that's been going for 3 years) and full on asymmetric warfare (like an increase of fires and what could be reported as sabotage occurring in places like Germany) there is certainly the potential for a lack of supply security.

I lived through this for instance

So fingers crossed we don't have problems.

Hopefully your country doesn't see fit to turn the FDA ruling about "only medical professionals" as a weapon against you. If they did I'd be turning to a doctor, forming a good INR management relationship (using data tools to demonstrate your competency) and asking them to buy the strips for you. Seems cumbersome but I have pretty much multiple instances per year (here and elsewhere) to demonstrate the "failure of competency" of INR clinics (for everyone except those who happen to need no actual management).

Best Wishes
