It is so cold here. I have longies on even for work. Very cold in this office. Going to be below tonight. Would rather stay in the house than go outside. I can't take the really cold weather. Is it true that heart patients can be bothered by the really cold weather. I try to keep my mouth covered up otherwise I get a little short of breath.

Hensylee, yes we are! What do you think about this freaky cold weather one week and then warm the next? This is so unusual!

Lisa, it's really weird, Yesterday the water in the outside dog dish never melted. A Dothan weatherman hinted of snow next week! you are on the coast and it's often 5-10 degrees warmer than we are up here in the sticks, but you have more wind than we do, probably, from the Gulf. Guess we'll get through it all, if we can stay well with these fluctuations.

Guess what, here it is Monday, February 2 at 1:40 p.m. and it's snowing again. I think the weather man said something about
7-10 inches. I hate this stuff! I'm ready for spring. Although I'll have to admit it is pretty. The snow makes everything look so clean and white.

Love and God Bless, Glenda

We are now getting snow here in central Illinois. Calling for snow, sleet and then snow. Might get 5 inches or so. Not so cold today.

intresting morning

intresting morning

The snow made for perfect weather to track a fox that had gotten into my hen house. Pissed me off. Now don't all you christians jump all over my @#! . I do not condone killing of animals!!! But this is a genuine problem if I am going protect my girls.

Now on with my point...it was tuff as hell for me. I used to be able to be all bundled up and hike miles. Not so today. Id walk a bit and rest a bit walk a bit and rest a bit. All in all about a mile down hill and one back in 12" of snow. Who-we I was tuckered out.

Hensylee-

Does your sister know that parts of the Buffalo area got 6 FEET of snow a few days ago? People were tunneling out of their doors because the snow drifted even higher. Absolutely unbelieveable!

I'm not sold on that Ross. He looped around on me with a small knole between us. I headed up the ajoining and larger hill. Layed down in the snow, barrely looking over the hill. Had a easy shot until my love of animals kicked in. I lined up on a tree right next to him. I fired and he took the hint. Heading back down into the timber along the creek, were he belongs.

I think I win

I think I win

Last week it was -37C with a windchill of -52C.
For those of you who are not familiar with the celsius scale, -40 Farenheit and -40C are the same. It's pretty cold, but I should be honest and tell you that because the air is so dry here, it isn't nearly as bad as it would be in coastal city.

Only a couple of schools closed, which I thought was wrong. It doesn't take much for a school bus to have mechanical problems in that temperature.

The scary part is I saw a guy on his bicycle going to work. He was bundled up pretty good, but there was a pretty nasty layer of frost where his mouth and nose should have been. He had special tires on his bike to deal with the snow.

Sometimes I think we are nuts to live up here, but then you see a guy like that who just doesn't let anything get him down. He was an inspiration. I got into my car with my heated seat and felt spoiled rotten.

The newscasters all did their hokey tests to see how long it would take water to freeze. One soaked a T-shirt in a bucket of water and less than 5 minutes later, it was solid ice. Another did the "Throw a glass of boiling water in the air and watch it hit the ground as ice". I don't think it worked, but it was funny nonetheless.

There are no complaints here now, our two week deep freeze has moved on and we are in average temps of -10C as a high and -20C at night, which is perfectly manageable.

Keep warm out there.

Yeah, they say that about the 100+ heat in West Texas. It's the humidity in Houston that get's ya!

My opinion is that if you stick your head in an oven or in a freezer, it don't much matter how dry or damp it is. :D

I feel for ya'll up there in the cold north. I've lived in Connecticut and Chicagoland Illinois. Even got caught in a snow storm in Canadian Rockies in August.

There are some things that I miss - like seasons. But my recollection of Chicago was that there are only two seasons......."winter" ...... and "road construction". Here we have road construction year round.

I still have my snow shovel, but its best use is as a dust pan for sweeping up the garage.

Some weeks ago there were many people calling into a local radio station to report a guy riding along a busy commuter route on a moped in very cold weather. Eventually some alert commuters called in to say that he had turned off the road into a dealership, to upgrade to a model with a windshield.
