I just picked up one last week and I've had quite a few of them here in southeast asia. I believe they're more common in the tropics with the combination of heat and humidity plus poor hygiene I've always made it through the infections ok but they can be serious. I had a friend who had a leg amputated. Now I understand there's a direct connection between staph infections and people with artificial heart valves. Wondering what other people's experiences are knowledge base is related to this topic? Here's a quote I got from Google "For individuals with artificial heart valves, a staph infection, particularly from the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus poses a significant risk, as it can lead to a serious condition called "prosthetic valve endocarditis" where the bacteria settle on the artificial valve and cause infection, potentially leading to life-threatening complications if not treated promptly; this is because the artificial valve surface can provide a site for bacteria to easily adhere to and multiply. "

After surgery, you want to be mindful that such infections can be serious and fatal for those of us with prosthetic valves. Treat any fever seriously, and promptly get checked out and have them do a blood culture to rule it out. But, the most important preventive measure is to keep very good dental hygiene on a daily basis, and premedicate with antibiotics before any dental visit.

Thank you I did do some searches on the word staph but not endocarditis. If I continue to live in the tropics I'm going to have to practice much better hygiene sort of pretend like it's back in the covid days

Thank you regarding the dental work and again yeah being very hygienic after surgery is a big deal. Fevers are a bit tricky for me because my temperature runs low and they often don't pick them up when I'm being seen by doctors. Also often before the doctor appointment I'll take it aspirin or tylenol to drive the fever down so it's undetected. Also I had the coronavirus twice however I've had two vaccinations and one booster. I'm also looking at getting a flu and a pneumonia back scene because I've had pneumonia twice
