Precisely, but ..........HUGE GULP........It's taking us straight into bankruptcy to do it. I've saved what people have sent me and that's just enough to cover my inpatient copayment. I still have to figure out how to deal with all the extractions and then dentures on top of that. I know I'm freaking prematurely and I'll know exactly where I stand Tuesday after talking with the ripoff artists errr I mean the financial advisor.

Ross, when you say your inpatient copay, are you going to have to go to the hospital to have the dental work done? Are you just pulling the two bad ones or are you going ahead and doing them all for dentures?

They took one look and said, they all have to come out. There are 7 others just as bad if not worse that could infect at any time they choose. It's the real deal, full extractions and dentures. I'm assuming it will be inpatient, but I won't know much at all until Tuesday now.

Ross, try to console yourself with the fact that once they are out, you can have a set of pretty white teeth that won't cause you any more worry.

I'm always elated to think I'll have WHITE teeth for the first time in my entire life. I'm just down because once again, major financial adversity is striking when we've never recovered from the previous strikes. I really fear this is the last Hoo Rah.

I missed this thread. checked in for a quickie, checked out and when I got back the new posts were gone and I guess yours along w/it.

Glad your aneurysm is hanging tight, but know that you are going through h**l with the teeth. They can make you totally miserable.

I will get a check in the mail to you in the next few days to help out a little bit.

Love you, my friend.

Good news, Ross, about "Annie".

Thoughts/prayers continue coming your way, of course.....

Ross, Wishing you better luck, and better health! This medical "care" = financial ruin drives me crazy! You are ever in my prayers, Brian

Oh this only gets better. I have now found out that my HMO never sent my file on during the second level appeal. Honestly, I'm ready to have a nervous breakdown. I've been fighting a shadow all for nothing so far and I'm still not one day closer to where I need to be and the clock has been ticking this whole time.

Sorry to hear of this 'failure to follow through' Ross.

As Reagan used to paraphrase the Russian saying,
"Trust but Verify".

Situations like this are why I always get my records and personally send them directly to whoever needs them (after a similar result as you experienced).

Ross, re. teeth, my jokey reply was going to be, 'emigrate to the UK', however as the one NHS area in an utter shambles is dentistry, stay where you are.

At least Annie isn't getting fat. Better to be alive and broke than rich and dead. ;) :)

This whole situation sucks!!

If I win the Lotto tonight Ross, you will be getting your teeth done at whatever facility you choose, ASAP!

Fingers crossed....

Good advice, Al. Ross, hang in there, buddy. Try not to let it get to you - as difficult as that is. Your health and well being is top priority. S***w 'em, let them sue you - they can't get blood from a stone. Take care of No. 1.

What pisses me off Al is that I have been following up with phone calls etc and have always been assured that my file was sent on. I guess it should be no surprise that with the last call I made requesting all documention sent to the outside reviewer be sent to me, that nothing has come huh? Medicare is certainly going to be hearing a complaint from me about this whole situation.

Maybe? Maybe I've found the answer?

Statutory Dental Exclusion

Section 1862 (a)(12) of the Social Security Act states, "where such expenses are for services in connection with the care, treatment, filling, removal, or replacement of teeth or structures directly supporting teeth, except that payment may be made under part A in the case of inpatient hospital services in connection with the provision of such dental services if the individual, because of his underlying medical condition and clinical status or because of the severity of the dental procedure, requires hospitalization in connection with the provision of such services."

I'm sure you would qualify for in-hospital extraction, Ross and as much as you hate the hospital it would be best both physically and financially!

Get it done in a hospital. Hope this solution pans out for you, Ross. GAWD, what gobbledigook!:( Seems like you have to be an (ahem) attorney to be a heart valve patient!:D

Jim

That's just it Jim, I'm not an attorney and I'm trying to interpret their meaning. Law is a lot like taking Coumadin. One thing says this, another thing say that and they counteract each other. Just like particular ref, are they saying that everything would be covered or only hospital services? GRRRR.
