In your case it dropped but in my case, it shot up pretty high. When we went to Houston two weeks ago, I checked it when we got back & it was 4.9; go figure........ And I didn't do any drinking either!!!!;)

Norma,

Mentioning that yours went to 4.9 reminded me that mine also went up to 4.4 on my return!! I took half regular dose for two nights, it was 2.9 on last Friday, yet today it was 2.2!!! Nothing changed except the trip and had a busy last week

You all got super lazy and decreased your activity level. I can see you now. Laying back getting massages, cool drinks with little umbrellas, every whim catered to. No wonder your INR went up. :D

Being out here in earthquake country is a big concern for meds also. Everyone expects that things would be back to "normal" in a week or so, so an additional supply of meds kept on hand isn't necessary. No way will things get back to anything resembling normal that fast and I'm not willing to take that chance so have begun asking my PCP and cardio for an extra refill of our meds to keep a stock on hand, as well as a small supply in our vehicles because who knows where you could be when something happens. What would it have been like to have been in New Orleans stranded in that stadium or whatever it was without meds, let alone water to take them. Which is why the thought of a massive earthquake makes me nervous.

Ah ha, maybe this will provide a good argument for getting a home tester in the future from my HMO, who generally will not prescribe them. I keep trying to add to a list of reasons why I need to home test and will work on getting one once I can get my INR to stay in range on a more regular basis.

I actually wonderred /hoped the people sitting on roofs had their meds if they needed any when Katrina was on TV.
IF you want to use that as a reason for getting your machine, I would tell them you have a portable generator so running it won't be a problem :)

Lyn, we do actually have a home generator but I would never have thought about telling them that so thanks for the hint. I'll wait a while yet before I start asking for home monitoring (after I feel a bit more stabilized) and if push comes to shove I will probably get one myself if that's the only avenue, but I'll push on my pcp and cardio first (lot cheaper that way).
