Spring Bash: Weekend Mini Reunion at Fermilab

I was planning on coming in Friday night but my dear old family changed that for me. We won't be driving up until Saturday morning which means we will not be there until 11 or 12.

However, chocolate chip cookies are still coming with us.

See you then, rain or shine, pool cues in tow.

goes with tasmania although I dont know if it makes any difference in the degree of wierdness.....

guess I have been cured.... no urge to go into asides... although its an expressive way of saying things in a forum like this... smilies dont have the range... too inexact maybe.

Too bad Selda is now back home on vacation, and I dont know any women in the village now, actually ( just talking to Ammina about how 'settled' we'd become, relatively speaking )

Looks like almost everyone is going to be late -- maybe I should postpone the tour until later in the day, was also thinking of taking people to the Lederman science center but I guess it might be a bit too juvenile to be really enjoyable ( meant for high school students ) -- guess I will just hang around the barn with the early comers and wait till noon for everyone to get the barbecue going -- unless there are specific requests for the prairie trails ( we can go in the afternoon around 4:00 p.m. as well )

If most people are coming a little later, would it be helpful if we didn't come quite as early? You are so good to host this gathering that we want to do whatever works best for you. If you chose to go to the Lederman science center, that will be fine for us as well; there's a kid still hiding out under this serious exterior. It sounds you have lots of great ideas that no matter what we'll have a great time.

Mary, we wish you were too!!!!! But we are so glad you are going to get put up on the hoist soon and have your engine tuned up. We'll all breath a collective sigh of relief then.

Burair - you know what they say about the "best laid plans"?

Since it seems like this is going to start around 11-12, what say we all meet at the barn and pig-out while trying to decide what to do for the rest of the day? Sounds like weather might be a factor for the outdoor stuff anyway.

Since the barn is ours from 9-2 and the User's center is ours from 3-7, we have plenty of time to decide if the weather is suitable for a prairie hike, canoes, etc. There is an hour from 2-3 without shelter. That is a good start for any tours or walks and then meeting back at the User's center whenever "whatever" is over. Worst case scenario is we all get callouses from pool cues Best scenario, we all get many hours to get to know each other better

Also, anyone who is staying Saturday night (right now I think Sherry and Wise) and anyone else who lives close to Batavia - would you like to get together Sunday for breakfast/brunch before heading out?

Just finished making brownies and a nice dill potato salad too! Not really low in K......but who is counting anyway .

Was thinking about throwing a bottle of wine into our picnic basket, that is.... if that is ok!

Gina, brunch sounds like a possibility too! Geneva is a great location for that!

I can't wait.

I made flat chocolate chip cookies today - they taste great but look a bit strange. I guess the baking soda didn't "soda". I also made sesame noodles and have a few extra ears of corn we can throw on the grill if there's space.

Bringing some extra soda (caffeine free of course ) just in case. Will see everyone around noon.

Sure hope we can get a brunch together on Sunday.

Its been a really strange day....

The good news is even though i've been out the whole day things worked out finally so we have the canoes, lifejackets and even the cheesecake ready for tomorrow. Was planning to invite Wise and Cindy for dinner but...

Well see you all tomorow as early after 9:00 a.m. as you can make it -- I'll be at the village barn from then... be seeing you.
