Just a suggestion Ann --- perhaps you can take some pictures of Sebastian & post them (utility poles) around your neighborhood --- perhaps someone will recognize him & come forward??

He tries to hump her and she hates him. He only comes up to her ankle!

Get him neutered if he's yours.

Chews on stuff like shoes, slippers, a woven basket, magazines and chair legs! So we think he's just not fully grown. He brings in pine cones and branches for us to toss, even tho he has real toys.

Buy some bitter spray at Petsmart to spray furniture, they have a sour apple and maybe a hot sauce flavor, is not supposed to harm furniture. Chester liked the skirt on my sofa until I used that stuff. Every time I caught him, I put a fresh spray on it. No stains. Buy him some rawhide bones, "Dentleys" brand, they have white ones with a peanut butter flavor. They also have compressed rawhide sticks, both of my fur babies like them. They think the other one has the best one so they watch each other chew a while before going to get theirs. Kaiser likes to put hers in their toy box, then Chester goes and gets hers. Kongs for teething are good also, you can buy a liver flavored goo to fill it with and he'll chew on it and lick out every bit of the goo. Can you tell how spoiled my fur babies are? :)
He has been well cared for, judging by his hair cut and clipped nails. But we don't know what else to do to find his owner. His name now is Sebastian.

Have you taken Sebastian to the vet to see if he's chipped? The vet can tell you approximately how old he is too. Maybe he was dropped off because his former owner didn't know what to do about the chewing behavoirs? Sometimes folks get a cute little puppy thinking it's the best thing in the world until they find out the the real story, maybe they lost their job and can't take care of him anymore? Food, grooming every 8 weeks, vet bills, etc may have become too much for the owner?

If you can work with him and his habits, keep him as your own. Just be patient though becuase they are just like kids. One good thing is he can't mouth off when he doesn't like what you're telling him, or when you scold him. :p

My husband thinks he looks like a "pootzu", but he looks just like my mom's registered Shih-Tzu of years ago. We also have a Shih Tzu, and we got him from the pound. He is supposed to be a purebred, but has several breed faults including redundant sinuses leading to a large overbite. He also likes to pee on the floor, but only out of spite. He likes to run off to visit the neighbor's dogs- big, mean farm dogs whose only interest in our dog is to eat him. He isn't scared of other dogs at all, only our cats. He is the same size as the majority of our cats, and chases strange cats out of our yard; he tries to chase certain of our cats, but has found out the hard way that they have very sharp corners.
Yes, he is very stubborn; a breed fault, really. But he is great with the kids and doesn't bother the chickens. He's just another ol' farm dog, and because he rolls around in cowpies and chicken-flickin's, as well as getting burrs and other stuff in his fur all the time, he gets trimmed. Unfortunately, he looks pretty "inelegant", and like some farm mutt, without an aristocratic bone in his body. I know, you'll ask for a picture, but Chris is going to have to do it since he is still setting up the computer.
These dogs are great companions. They love to go in the car, too.

Chilly in Idaho,

Ann, I'm quoting Louise's post again, because it is bang on the button.:)
Good luck with the little Sh-t......oops, I mean Shih Tzu.;)

at Christmastime we had a small miracle. There was a wonderful family of 5 including husband, wife, three children - stay at home mom, acreage in the country where they lived. They had been looking for a shitzu for Christmas and had been looking at an adoptive agency which would not get them their pet by Christmas. Sebastian was just the pup for them. They were a family who could afford the expense of owning this dog since he is not a small investment. Happily they took him two days before Christmas and all are happily involved in his safekeeping. Thanks for asking.

our hearts are still broken at our own loss of him and he will always be remembered and loved. Such a loving and jolly faithful pet he is.

Thanks for asking.
