Nothing to be proud of for sure. Just proved a point to myself for the 4th time that a lower calorie diet, lots of fruit and fresh goodies. Not to mention the Mia Tia's = high numbers for this gal. Pineapple juice raises my INR!

I do enjoy this same little ritual when we vacation. Guess I will learn to eat more greens next time!

Enjoyed reading the chat. Too tired from 2 age 10 year olds to post much:D But just called and he said, Granbonny, I'm ready for bed.:p Have you tried cabbage? Not really that good. other than coleslaw. And V-8 juice.. My INR has NEVER been higher than 3.7..and lower than 2.2..Guess I am lucky..and I have always taken Warfarin Barr.. 5 mg.. a day...We are going to the beach this week..Will be interesting to see if sun does anything? Never did anything last summer to INR..but one never knows.:p

Cabbage cooked a certain way with butter or bacon fat:eek:. I throw in some carrots too. Just got in from a trip. Slim pickings over here. Did manage a large Greek salad. tonight. Had a small one for lunch too. Cut my dose in half today. When all is said and done...will be down where I need to be tomorrow.

My INR was 5.0 on Friday. I still can't figure out why it went up so high, since I've just been returning to my normal 3.2 after the Christmas holidays. I have been drinking more orange juice. Since I can't figure out why it went up, I'm grasping for straws.

Sorry I missed the chat. I just got home, and nobody's on.

It must be catching

It must be catching

I tested 4.5 on Friday. I've been higher, but I can't figure this one out. Clinic changed one dose from 7.5 to 5 mg, so that's a nice gentle adjustment. I retest in 2 weeks.

I didn't even get to take a fun trip!

Hmmmm, higher than usual INR's here. I can explain mine this time:eek:

Over the past four years I have graphed my INR, March and into mid summer my INR jumps around a great deal. Change in seasons, activity level, etc.

Bonnie, have a wonderful time at the beach. Try not to worry about your INR too much. Sun has affected me both ways. This time up. Was in the sun everyday for a week. For the few times in a year I do get to have some fun....I fully enjoy. Testing weekly will return me to the safe zone ASAP. :D

My INR was 5.0 also Friday. The nurse and I figured mine was due to being on antibiotics. Told me to hold Friday and take 5.0mg Saturday and Sunday. I retest Monday. Ate greens over the weekend, so I hope with holding on Friday , it doesn't totally plummet tomorrow. I'm also on another 10 days of antibiotics! This sinus/cold nose blowing etc just doesn't seem to want to go away. Does seem strange a few other peoples INR jumped up too. Well, Gina we know pinepple does do that to you, but 6.2! Yikes! And I was fretting about 5.0. Let you know what my reading is when I go for my test tomorrow.

How odd...

How odd...

I find it very interesting that so many people are experiencing higher INRs this week. I tested Saturday at 4.7. That is the highest I've ever been. My card cut my dose in half (almost) and I ate pleanty of broccoli and the next day tested at 2.7. Seems like a bit of a leap to me. My card didn't sound worried about it. But did put my dose back up. Guess I need to be better about my vit K. My hubby said he's getting tired of cabbage ;) . May need to adjust my dosage for a bit less vit K in my diet if we continue to eat this way.

Good to know I'm not alone in the INR battle.

Bonnie - I must have missed something. Who is that beautiful wee one in the basket ? What a great avatar? Chris

Hi there,

Just tested my INR this evening (3/31) and it was a whoppin 6.5. Wew! Have never tested this high before and I don't have a clue as to what the reason could be. I had two servings of spinach today as I sort of knew it would be high, but not this high? It's been a week since we had the get together in Phoenix and the one Margarita I had that day couldn't be the problem anymore. I have had no alcohol since. It must be the warmer weather.
Now I have to decide whether to call this number in to my doctor or just give him one of my previous results, because I know he'll tell me to hold for 48 hours and there is no way I want to do that.
I am not bleeding so what I am going to do is hold half a dose for two days and eat lots of vegies. Test again on Friday!

Is that the youngest grandson? CUTE! I just got my INR checked today, so I should know tomorrow what it is. This new lab that I go to is a little slow, but...I don't have to worry about what to do with the kids when I go as they don't mind me bringing them. 6.2...WOW, that is high! I think the highest I have been is 3.64. I hopw it comes down again, and fast! good luck!

This morning 7.8. What is going on?

This morning 7.8. What is going on?

My husband suggested I'd eat another large helping of spinach last night before bed after testing 6.5.
I decided to test again this morning because of eating the large amount of vitamin K last night and my INR was even higher. 7.8, but not bleeding. Decided with numbers like this I need to skip my dose one whole day. Still have to call in a number to my doctor.
I will be alright!:D :D :D

must be something in the water

must be something in the water

my INR was 7.9!!

Should I believe my eyes?

Should I believe my eyes?

Have I not been trying to convince you all for the last three years that the weather effects my INR?

Nice to see ya' all finally agreeing with me!!:D My INR tested 5.9 last week. It is after all....... SPRING! :p

My INR

My INR

Yall were scaring me so I tested this morning..2.7 last week 2.5 today..Mine is dropping:D :D :D I had one bite of Asparagus last night:eek:   I am confused about alcohol..beer..DOES it raise or lower INR. I drink Miller Lite. Around 5 p.m. then eat dinner...then take my 5 mg. of coumadin..Did I read that Al said..you have a time period (3-4 weeks) to get back in range before something happens:eek:  You folks had better start drinking a V-8 for breakfast..AND no alcohol in it:p :p Bonnie

I can't believe those numbers you guys. Pretty much everyone had high INR's this week except Bonnie. It must be the weather, what else could it be?

I ended up calling in the 6.5 results from last night and the doctor wants me to skip 3 whole days, can you believe this? There is no way I can do this, because I know from previous experience that I'll drop too low.
I have decided to skip today and take 1/2 tomorrow and again 1/2 on Thursday. He wants me to test again on Thursday but that's not three days, and I think it's better to test Friday morning, and hope for the best.
I am also going to eat lots of greens the next few days, and hope with that I won't drop too low.

I am still    I have had on shorts..Still walk as usual...Weather?I think I may eek my dosage for a few days..Like a bit..Hit a pill with a hammer and take a tad more:p Bet Al is having a hissy fit with our INR's.:D :D

Christina. You beat my 6.2! What did our little party do to us;) I cut my dose in half for one day and had a few salads. My high reading came in on Sunday....so I plan to retest Wednesday.Taking my regular dose until that time. It will level out eventually. I will never hold a day again...unless it against my will! Or the INR is way way high. I can't beleive your doc said hold for 3! Let us know how your way works for you.

Bonnie, beer is a culprit for me. The few times I had 1 or 2 my INR went down. Lorraine enjoys her beer now and again and has had her share of low INR's. What is it? Yeast, barley, hops?
