The judges were so upset at his blatant behavior that they disqualified his dish altogether! I thought it was funny myself. Bobby isn't one of my favorite personalities.

There are a few things that consistently gives me the giggles during an Iron Chef episode:

1) Did you ever notice that everyone's voice is dubbed, EXCEPT the millionare host, who gets subtitles? (For those of you who don't know, Iron Chef is a Japanese show)

2) The millionare host's wardrobe always looks like it was borrowed from "the artist formerly-and-currently know as Prince."

3) The "on the field" cameraman and commentator always seem to be interrupting the "play by play" to breathlessly say things like "Look, the Iron Chef has just started boiling water!"

4) The judges always have a faint look of disgust on their faces when they're tasting the food.

Despite the giggles, I always learn something about cooking on the show, and I'm always hungry at the end of the episode.

Did anyone see the Iron Chef program when the featured food was -- ta da! -- broccoli?
Dessert was broccoli ice cream/sorbet/whatever.
I love broccoli but can't imagine an entire meal built around it. Especially ice cream. (Shudder!)
Didn't see Bobby Flay, but heard about it.

Nancy:
I kinda like Emeril. Love his live shows; start to go to sleep during the others. Think he has a restaurant in New Orleans. I'll be down there for a cat show in July. Will be staying at an airport hotel; should make plans to get a group together to check out his restaurant. We tend to hit the French Quarter on Saturday night during that club's show. Good beignets and latte at the Cafe du Monde. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Harpoon:

I'll be your proofreader -- been a newspaper copy editor since 1976 and did some before that too.
I proofread text my dad puts together in programs for the Dallas Camera Club.

LOOK!

HE JUST STARTED TO BOIL WATER!

WHAT WILL HE DO NEXT???

-i-in a broken, Japanese/English accent of course....

cat>>Yer hired!

Oh, and what's wrong with broccoli, spinach, tomato, and bacon with pepperjack and cheddar cheese quiche with a broccoli (and other veggies) salad and maybe a cheese and broccoli soup????

Nevermind the MASSIVE amounts of vitamin K which would most likely cause you to bleed out as your INR fell off the charts and onto the floor in a wimper....

I have a particular weakness for the cooking shows they air on the local PBS station every Saturday morning. It's hard because while I want to watch my cooking shows, little Patrick wants to watch his cartoons....

On occassion I've gotten him to sit down with me and watch my cooking shows and he's enjoyed it, but this is rare, usually he wants to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or that Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon.

Whatever happened to all the old, classic Warner Brothers cartoons? I'd much rather he learned the finer points of the Wabbit season/duck season arguments or concidred why W.E Coyote can never catch Road Runner...

It's just not the same anymore.....

Harpoon:

I'm with you on the cartoons these days. The Nickolodeon channel has some of the grossest, weirdest cartoons I've ever seen. Just give me Bugs Bunny!

Doesn't anyone else like Sponge Bob? I always have to laugh when I watch this one. My Grandsons like Scooby Doo but I am not crazy about that one. I bought a Playstation game for the grandkids called Mickey's kitchen. You move stuff around and cook stuff. I can't even get the cursor where I want it but the 4yr. old does exceptionally well. Kids love it.

Don't have any children. But I do have a sister who probably qualifies as one. :D
Cathy was my social director when I stayed with our parents for 2 weeks after leaving the hospital. Among the countless movies she lined up for me was .... The Rescuers! Anybody out there remember that movie? It was her daughter's favorite when she was a toddler. Holly is now 29.
Cathy is an avid fan of Harry Potter, so you can imagine how her movie tastes run.

Cable is not available in my small subdivision. Don't know exactly why, I think the developer never had cable lines put in. Would have been kinda nifty to see cable access.
