My little friends used to "sing" us out to play. They would stand outside the house and sing, "Nancy--can you come out to play-ay-ay".
Maybe it was something unique to our neighborhood, but all the kids did it. Seems strange to think of it, but that's what they did.
Sometimes, they would be half way down the block and would be singing their little song.
