Cardiologist says it's time for repair.. I'll be at 3 years from repair, in June. Cardiologist says that with my symptoms, (shortness off breath, tired all the time, pressure/ pain in my chest), it's time for a replacement, mechanical, or otherwise.

Problem is, I have not insurance, as I'm laid off, for maybe a few more months. With the state of the economy, who knows..

I wish they had just replaced it with the mechanical, to begin with. I'm tired of living day to day, no knowing what if, what's to become.

If it wasn't for my 6 year old, I would have probably given up a long time ago..

Anyway, just wanted to vent, and say I'm on the list, and looking at all options.

Sorry to hear this, just try to keep the faith and God will provide a way to get this done. I am sure there must be a program out there for people with no medical insurance, I know there is here in Illinois. I will be praying for you.

I'm sorry to read this news, Harry. I hope it all works so you can get it over and done with.

Also, now that the government is picking up 65% of the COBRA you can sign up now - even if you declined before - if you were laid off after September 1, 2008.

Harry,

So sorry to hear about your need for VR...Vent as much as you want and visit us as you need, but never ever give up!!! It is not accepted!! God shuts a window, but He will open a DOOR...you will feel much better once you have things in order, hoping your insurance will be solved soon.

Good luck and you are included in my prayers.

I will place you on my prayer list at my church. Miracles do happen. I pray you find a job that pays even more than what you were making previously and even better insurance coverage.

Don't give up!

I hope everything works out for you in your time of need. Just keep looking forward. Good luck to you & your family, and God Bless

Harry,
If you remain laid off with no insurance, you might look into the Larry King Cardiac Foundation. It "provides funding for life-saving treatment for individuals who, due to limited means and no insurance, would otherwise be unable to receive the treatment and care they so desperately need."
Take care,
John

Thank you. I'm looking into all options. We have never been laid off this long, but, there is rumor (or hope) that we will be called back before the end of April. I haul cars, and traditionally, the auto industry doesn't pick up steam until then.

I did not get anything on COBRA this year, but I've bounced around the country, and I think my address needs updating.

Contacting your former employer and inquiring about COBRA benefits would seem like a logical next step, especially if you would qualify under the plan described by Briansmom.

Good Luck !

Hospital Charity

I'm getting ready for the same surgery, had repair first and now getting ready for replacement valve. I had the first through hospital charity because I had no insurance and this one will be also. I would check into it, don't see you trying to work with your problem going on right now. See if your hospital does charity.

My husbands company is going through a rough patch at the moment:(. Wishing you the very best, really hope you can find something that works for you. Tc
