Well, It is 1130 on 07-16-08.This time last week I had been given a "HAPPY SHOT"
to "RELAX" me and have a vague memory of knowing I was going to be prepped. the next thing I remember is a disembodied voice saying it was about 7pm on the night of the surgery. I also remember a very annoying guy next to me in CICU that was giving the nurses hell. I guess i was chewing on the ET Tube but I didn't cause many other problems. The nurses were so turned off by the other guy that once the TUBE was out and I could speak, I was having to yell at them to get their attention. I even remember a nurse saying, "OH, I thought it was the other guy". Don't know how long I was in CICU but I guess I went to a room pretty quickly. OK, just asked the wife and she said it was 10:30 am the next day. TOTALLY don't remember that! Anyway, Day one PO was a blur.
The remaining were increasingly less blurry. My son came home from visiting family in N.C. on SUNDAY and I got out on Tues at about 630pm. So, now I am home and have a computer I can use. I can say that my shoulder PAIN is gone with or without meds and it's now just discomfort. WOW, just came back from a LITTLE walk outside with my wife and it seems like miles and miles.
So, now I get to sit home, read, watch TV, play TETRIS,
and keep walking. I MADE IT OVER THE MOUNTAIN!
I don't know how many STUPID mistakes I have made in creating this post. So is that
PUMPHEAD?

Dr said all went well, I had a VERY hard sternum to cut through, the root was 21mm and fairly thick and straight. The On-X Valve was only 23 mm but that is what I took. The scar is only 3.5 to 4 inches long. as he does a "less invasive" surgery. Food is starting to taste better. It started with a Plum last night at home. (i am amazed how hospitals can even mess up fruit)
Thanks to ALL of you for the prayers and thoughts. I was full of questions when this started and I got to the starting line full of knowledge. you are all great! I know the best is yet to come. I told Dr. WOLFE'S office about VR.COM as well as the NURSE MGR. at the hospital, who said she would pass it on to the education dept. Gotta go eat now and perhaps a nap.
Thanks again
