My kids were older (teenagers) when I had my surgery and my daughter did ask this question. Unfortunately my Dad passed away during OHS (quad bi-pass), which my kid's knew, but he had a lot of other health problems that complicated things. We were open and honest that anything could happen but similar to Freddie's response, we reinforced all the positives like an excellent surgeon, my otherwise good health, etc. I find that kids are pretty resilient. If you exhibit confidence, they'll pick up on that and be confident, too. Best wishes and good luck.
