Just something I've been thinking about while watching the forums. To those who don't use their names as a screen name, what made you decide on the one that you use?

A junior high school friend called me debster years ago (I am almost 40 now!!) and the name stuck. In fact, I cannot remember the last time my husband called me Debbie!:) Deb

As in ... on the radio or TV?

Hmmm...I've often thought that'd be the perfect job ;).

As for me:
knightfan = I'm a fan of the Monte Carlo, which has the Knight Crest/Shield as its emblem.
2691 = last digit of my older 4 MCs (I joined before I had purchased my '87 MC LS)...

197(6)
197(9)
198(1)

Off the subject to wxman - My daughter and I were just discussing (5 minutes ago) potential careers (she is 17) and she mentioned that she would like to be a news anchor. She is thinking about meteorology as a major because thinks that would be more interesting and give her a better chance than RTF. Can you recommend any colleges/universities that she could look into?

My wife and I honeymooned on Tobago, an enchantingly beautiful and largely unspoiled island off the coast of Venezuela, with incredible snorkelling, lush rain forest, egg-laying turtles on the western beaches, and warm, pleasant people. Thus, we are the Tobago Two.

Best wishes,

good topic !

good topic !

couldn't say my real name (Jeanette Smith) when I was young and referred to myself as Net Miff . . . . .

Similarly my brother, Gordon, is either Gorbdon (because he had difficulty writing b and d as a child, and to get it right, used to put both in his name) or Nodrog (= Gordon backwards) after a bout of particularly silly family fun . .

Living in the New Orleans area, praline is a popular candy, kind of like what some people call fudge. We also used to have a big orange cat that my stepdaughter had named TaffyPraline.
I have used Praline on a teacher's site for years so when I found this site, I used the same screen name.

BREAKER 19----can I get a radio check????

Old ?CB Handle? (you do remember those two way radios don?t you??) from when I drove a delivery truck. When I first got into CBs I used ?RADAR? from the MASH TV show. I had a Colonel once that started calling me that when I could finish his thoughts and put things on his desk before he had a chance to ask for them; just like ?RADAR? O?Riley did to Colonel Blake. But soon no one remembered ?RADAR? and thought I was warning of a ?Speed Trap? instead.

I guy looked in my truck one day, saw a CB Radio, Police/Fire Scanner, Radar Detector, Global Positioning System (GPS) and an XM Radio Receiver and said I had so many GADGETS I should call myself ?GADGETMAN?. And yes, much to the distain of my wife and any other passenger, ALL were on at the same time.   :p I just started using it on some of the Forum sites and here I am.

DISCLAIMER: ?GADGETMAN? appears to be a well used ?screen name? out there in Ciberworld so MOST OF THEM are NOT me----I?ve seen several making comments and rants that I almost wanted to change my ?screen name? to something else.

A good thread Ross, guess you beat Cort with this one!!

May God Bless,

Danny :)

It's my name in real time. My grandmom had the same name. In Buffalo, New York, where I grew up, it was a comon name among Polish people.

Since I came to Arizona, I have never met another with the same name.

Combination

Combination

Good question, Ross. I'm enjoying these answers.

The Paul part is obvious. I think when I joined 5 years ago there might have been another Paul so I combined my name and the name of the company I own, Pillar Property Services into PillarPaul.

Now, how did Gina pick hers (and why did she change it from GinaM I think)? And how did Janie ever come up with "Shezagirlie"? Oh, wait, I think I know that one:D

how did i get my screen name?

how did i get my screen name?

Comming off nightshifts i really couldnt think of one screen name so recalled they had the best surgeon Dr. Burgess who they spoke of as seamster and neat steady handed. He did a mavelous job of insicion and was the smallest thinest looking zipper i was then called zipper.Still get compliments on the zipper, then cuz theres already a zipper on the board i was commanded to zipper2. I could have been given cow bell as id enter the corrider they could hear my new valve clicking and then renamed me cowbell......but i stuck with zipper lol . thanks everyone on info for the metoprolol 25 mg not sure why im even on it as i have no blood pressure its low blood pressure not high which can be just as bad from what i understand. Also when i got very sick a year ago they had me on intervenous for a month gentimiacin and vancomyacin, hope im spelling these two potent iv drugs right they ruined every vein in my body, the hospital staff doing iv would run and hide as to replace an iv for me was a hard chore for them. Also when i got sick they put me on the metoprolol as my pulse was scaring them totally it was jumping from wall to wall ,so to speak. again thanks for all the feedback .

Bye for now !

Chris loves to surf and he's an electrician (over here in Oz they call them sparkys). Hence, 'surfsparky'.
