Digging post holes and putting screws into very hard wood is strenuous work.

I have a funny story. I had some trees cut down by a wild and crazy guy, quite the logger. He did it the old fashioned way with spurs, a safety belt and guy ropes manned by his wife and I guess a girlfriend. Not too sure whose girlfriend she was. But anyway, they looked like girly type girls. Had to remove a portion of the fence which had posts going about 3 feet into the ground, well, maybe 2, very deep. The wife did the digging both to remove the posts and to redig the hole for them, and then reset the posts. She also lifted the heavy logs onto the truck while her man was up in the tree cursing and yelling and swinging around in the branches and having a fine time. He wasn't angry, that was his way to get the job done.

A couple of years later, had to have a new sidewalk put in, and it involved the same fence and the same posts. Couple of burly, mouthy guys this time. They got the post out easily enough. However when trying to replace the posts, I caught them just as they were going to try to lop some of the post so they wouldn't have to dig too far down. I told them I knew what was on their minds. The guy who was digging was sweating bullets. But I said, no, you are not going to lop off that post to make is easy on yourself. We have teenagers here who like to run their cars into fences like that and I don't want it to fall over. Then I told him about the logger's wife and what she did.

His reply, "She's a better man than I am", but it got him going, and he did reset the post correctly.

Yes, slice, dip, lay them out on wax paper lined trays and freeze like that.
Then pick them off and store in zip loc freezer bags in freezer.

I do it slightly different...I slice the banans and put a toothpick in the center of each, then I freeze them in foil, Third, I get them out of freezer and hold each from toothpick and dip it in chocolate syrup. The syrup hardens on it right away. Yummy!

I hope you are feeling better, Cooker :)

Well I just could not stop .... I rested up and then edged 1/2 of one side of the drive way ... the other side is lined with timbers but I never did both, why I don’t know ... so I am getting all the grass and roots up and then lay timber down .... I’m also going to bust up existing asphalt where pine roots have screwed it up ... can’t find anyone to prep it “right” for re-topping ... getting old be damn....:D:D

uhmmm, after reading everything, I'm trying to get the picture here.....
You had to replace your mailbox and post, so you dug out your post-hole digger, screwed in a couple screws took a break. Then you had to some edging and remove grass - all this before your mail box could be replaced?

I picture your post-hole digger sitting on the lawn along with a post with a couple of screws in it, edge clippings all over the driveway and in holes in the busted up driveway, but yet no mail box.

I'm thinking that this thread is in need of some pictures.

Hey Hoser! ... All complete except the driveway:p ... that's a six month project due to time ... my plan is to have it read to re-top by spring:rolleyes:

I thought this was a man's way of multitasking - but not completing the first job before he starts a new job.

That should read "Hey Canadian Hoser", just for further reference LOL:)

You didn't freeze them first???

Anyone tired frozen seedless purple grapes. Oh man, that's better than a grape Popsicle. Oh yea, if the grape bounces its not frozen. :)
