Hi Bryan

Hi Bryan

I thought I was going to by-pass the cold season this year, it will be spring here in about a month, but that determined virus got me on Sunday, when playing with small nieces and nephews.

Right now I'm doing the Cold Ez, and tylenol, but it's not working, yet, and knock wood, it usually doesn't go into my chest, Just my throat and sinuses, oh and my eyes aren't too happy either.

There are great suggestion hear, I'm going to try them all untill it's gone.

Stay well,

Terry40

Bryan,
Well you're getting more than your fair share, aren't you! Sorry to hear things are pretty rough around the edges for you right now. It took about 4 weeks from my cath until my surgery was scheduled. Mostly, this was no one's fault-really just due to the problems between the only heart surgery hospital in town and BC/BS. I waited for a time for them to settle their differences before finally setting my sights on UAB (Birmingham). The point is,as soon as I found out my surgery date, I just moved into a relaxed mode. I may not retain my composure between now and the big event, it's coming up in a week, but I wanted to assure you that you'll probably feel some sense of calm once you a date. Hope you get some resolution soon-across the board.

Bryan, you are really having a rough time right now. My heart goes out to you. I sent this prayer to Bill a couple of days ago. I don't know how to copy and paste in this program so I'll just type it out for you. It says a lot.

Dear Lord,
I need your peace today.
I have crooked places that need to be straight and rough places that need to be smoothed. I'm facing mountains I can't climb and valleys I can't cross. I need help. I release into your hands all the worries and anxiety's and struggles of life. Amen

A friend of mine just sent this to me through e-mail the other day and I thought I would pass it along to my friend's on this site.

Love and God Bless, Glenda

Bryan,

I had trouble getting my echogram. I called the Heart Center where it had been done and said that I needed to talk to the person who was responsible for making the copy. He said he could have it done the next morning and I asked exactly what time I could pick it up. I took it straight to the post office and sent it by overnight mail to the surgeon.

I'm not sure that it ever feels like the "right time" to quit smoking!
One time I started after quitting for two weeks, because my Dad was coming to visit (he always made me crazy). So you are doing a phenomenal job, considering all the pressure you are under.

I hope you're feeling better.

Final update (I hope):

I went to the doctor today. I was diagnoised with sinuitis and bronchitis. I just have to laugh...that's exactly what I was diagnoised with in June, so I have come full circle.

(I've been sick since last June when I was diagnoised with bronchitis, then prostatitis, then endocarditis, then the recommendation to have VSD repair and AVR)

On the subject of still waiting for word from my surgeon, I decided to call their office yesterday. They still haven't received the echo tape "supposedly" mailed Feb 9th from the hospital. So today I express overnighted the copy they gave me on Friday and they should recieve it tomorrow by 10AM.

So . . .

So . . .

did they change your antibiotic?

Are you on an antihistamine all the time? A nasal spray? Do you use Ocean nasal spray? Last fall when I was having trouble the doc changed me from claritin (that I'd used for years) to Singulair (which didn't make the insurer very happy); but what a difference it made!! I know it won't help the current infection, but I think it helps keep the irritation down so you can heal and stay healed.

I do hope you get better. It's so depressing to feel awful for weeks (and you know, if you feel awful because of your heart you get a lot of respect and sympathy; feel awful because of a cold/sinus infection/allergy, and you get a lot of "so what?")

Hi Georgia!

Yes, they held the Cipro I'm on for my prostatitis and put me on Levoquin for ten days, then I'll go back on the Cipro. They also gave me some cough syrup to keep the mucous coming up. I take Clarinex on a regular basis, but I can't take decongestants without causing my prostatitis to flare up.

It seems that since last June my immune system has just not been able to handle any bugs very well. I don't know if this is because of my heart condition or not, but I know it's not helping my heart condition. I'm really hoping (and I think my cardio and surgeon think the same) that closing the VSD and replacing my calcified AV will help with some of the other stuff going on.

I got an e-mail from my surgeon's assistant letting me know that they got the echo tape...yeaaa! He sees patients on Mondays, so I'm hoping to get an appointment to see him a week from this Monday and things will start to move forward. That will be such a relief to get to talk to him face to face and maybe get a date for surgery.

Thanks for everyone's concern and responses!
