Anthrax?...:D
It does kinda look like anthrax..they come connected in a chain like that,
but I only know what they look like under a regular old light microscope.
so I'll agree with Bina:)

Dina never came back.....In researching her 4 choices, I found legionella bacteria looked the same as your pic.
We chose it Together. :)
Maybe we should go into business...I can handle the physical exertion of
sitting on a stool and looking in a scope:cool:

Yeppers, that be Anthrax and I don't mean the band.
You remember that band..? I used to have the 'tape' - "Among the Living"
in the late 80's i think.

I wonder if the blue surrounding it is it's flagella or spores..? Do you know?
i'm not even ssure if anthrax even has flagella.

Bina-we make a great team..you come up with the answer and I'll agree with you!

All I've ever seen is the tubular shape, never seen any flagella that I've noticed, so I'm pretty sure those are spores.

Okay, how about this bacterium...a gram negative rod of ill repute..?
* considered an elongated rod

Dina, we will need another clue please.
Okay -It supposedly came from the east or mid east and was transmitted
by ships/sailors and It was a disease that was quarantined when diagnosed.
If a ship pulled into port bearing goods and carried this "Bug" ..the ship
would be pushed out to see and torched, along with her wares, then the sailors would have to strip naked and swim onto the beach, and bring nothing with them. It would be a huge loss for the shipper, and as a result many bribes were made and accepted.

I know this one, but darned if I can remember the name. I'll get it sooner or later. Without even looking, is it the Bubonic Plague?
