Hi Anna, Have you had a stress echo done ? They can monitor your pulmonary pressure while its done.

There is a Cleveland Clinic Forum (CCF) - questions answered by CCF 'doctors' and I found them to be very 'informative'. I took their 'answer' to my doc and I questioned 'why' I wasn't getting the same workup as suggested by the CCF doctors suggested I should have? So, my doc did the workup and it showed a big difference from the other test and explained my symptoms accurately. The only problem now is - I have to go in the hospital - and have surgery.

I think to get the right answers - you need to look for the 'right' test and don't be afraid to let them know CCF helped you to question what the necessary test was needed to 'confirm' your symptoms..

Good Luck and Hang in there..

I disagree. I think there is too many un-ness. 2nd opinions driving up costs. I say trust your Dr's and keep in mind CCF is advertising by connecting up with this site as much as possible. I have had many surgeries...not once did I need an outside opinion.

Well I'm supposed to be having a stress echo done... only the cardio that is supposed to be organising it still hasn't gotten in touch with me, and no-one in his office is returning my phone calls (..it's now been over 3 weeks since they were supposed to let me know when this was happening..). I have had stress echos done in the past, but they've only ever monitored my BP and heart rate.
I'll just keep on bugging them until they do what they need to do to find some answers.

You must be very fortunate to have had doctors that have taken you seriously and have done the right thing by you. I think my own experiences illustrate why so many of us seek second (..and third, and fourth..) opinions and there are certainly a number of others on this forum who have had to insist on seeing other doctors and specialists before they have found answers and received the treatment they've needed.

Unfortunately doctors don't know everything about everything, but it seems there's not too many of them who are prepared to admit it. I'm not too sure what your own history is, but because there's not very many doctors (..certainly not in my part of Australia..) who have dealt with people with my condition, I would rather they admit they don't know a great deal about it instead of putting me in the "too hard basket" and hoping I'll go away.

I can only liken it to any other service profession... if you are not happy with the service, you go to someone else. In my book, doctors and specialists are no different.... except you may end up paying with more that your cheque book if you stay with someone you're not happy with.

Again, I'm glad you've been happy with the treatment you've received, but doctors are people like the rest of us and have flaws, just like the rest of us.

...Having said that, I do appreciate and value everyone's opinions - so feel free to keep 'em coming!!

Cheers
Anna : )
