Marsha,
I'm not sure if you have talked to Dr. Ryan's office yet but I went through the same thing with my surgery two years ago. I did not have a TEE before surgery..it was done while I was knocked out before surgery. I got a phone call from the Dr. that was in charge of putting me in lala land and he gave me the info on when to stop food and liquids. I showed up at 5am for a 7:30am surgery. I filled out the hospital paper work and was sent to a room. At the room they put me in a gown, weighed in, and did the blood work. I was then taken down to the prep room where I got IVs and asked them about my blood work. They already had it completed and I was ready to go. I was told that they usually do the blood work a day before surgery but I had my surgery the day after Memorial Day so my case was a little different. Hope all goes well and let me know if you have any questions.
