Report from NW Florida:

yesterday am we woke to about 27!
Today we woke to about 35.

Wrens are flirting with last year's nest. Did you know the male finds a nest, brings his little lady to it and if she doesn't liike it, turns it down and he must search again? We have a basket of fake flowers hanging high on the eave and every year they come back to have 2 - 3 bunches of babies in that basket. Guess she likes the flowers?

Daffodils have buds that should open in next couple of weeks. Alas, the cold is still with us, tho. Sigh........

Just returned home from 5 warm days on the beach.Myrtle Beach, S.C....Had 5 motorhomes around us..from Mass., N.Y, Michigan Il...and they were going back home:eek:  Ann, speaking of birds. save your dryer lint and throw outside. they love to make nests from it.:D Calling for 3 inches of snow tonight.  The only reason we did not stay at beach. long Holiday weekend..booked solid. Snowbirds..stay home:mad:  Bonnie

will do, Bonnie - (love your pic of you and Kameron) - that wren was out there in the RAIN this mornin, just a'whistlin away.

We love snowbirds here - they keep our economy alive and well. In summer locals are not given rooms! That way the visitors from other states are accommodated. Spring break is only a couple weeks away and Panama City Beach will be just AWFUL with kids - some of them falling off balconies. If I had a young'un I would forbid spring break in these shore cities..........very dangerous.

February 10 - ???

No additional snow. Irregular sunshine and above-freezing daytime temperatures are melting what little snow remains (just the nasty snow-plow piles). Low temperatures above freezing predicted on or around February 19. Until further notice, winter is officially postponed in Cincinnati.

We usually get one last blast some time around mid-March, but we'll have to wait and see. Unless it snows before March 21 (the vernal equinox), I won't update this thread again (and there was much rejoicing, "Yay!").

March 16.

As usual, the last blast in mid-March has arrived. So far, we have "only" 4-6 inches of snow. I was out this morning clearing the driveway with the thrower, which graciously started right up after a more-than-one-month rest. The snow was wet and heavy, and what fell during the rest of the day was already melting on it's way down. The roads are all clear, and some of them are drying out already. The forecast for tonight and tomorrow calls for a 20% chance of additional snow, but with temperatures hovering right around the freezing mark, I don't expect any additional snow to last long.

My wife took an unexpected one-day business trip to New York City to visit the offices of Rolling Stone magazine to approve an advertising supplement her company will have in the next issue. Unfortunately she flew north and east ahead of the storm, and is now stuck in Manhattan overnight (Poor baby! Stuck in Manhattan with a bunch of marketing types from Rolling Stone? I can't imagine what she'll do all evening!).

It's looking more and more like my surgical postponement was PROVIDENCE in action...

Are you buried under again:eek:   Saw upper New York's weather.  Short sleeves here. working in yard and outdoor goldfish begging for food. They have been down under for last 5 months. Coming up to top of pool.. Need to clean their pond..but will wait another week. Don't want to change their water temperature. We will probably have many more cold nights. Rule of thrumb in the South. Wait until Easter..to do planting, ect. 4 more weeks.:) :) :) Bonnie

We're supposed to get around 12 inches. It started this afternoon, and is still going. Plus it's freezing cold outside. We just got rid of all the ice on the roof, now it'll be back again. Things are starting to come up in the garden, they'll get a shock. But they're used to strange weather.

Next weekend it supposed to be in the 40s, a lot of it will melt.

It always tough when we get late snows, we are so ready for spring.
