Greetings! ... Here is hoping everyone has had a good week, TheIrishman included:rolleyes: ... I for one am glad November is over, they say bad things come in threes but I am here to attest they come in fours ... Never the less TheChimp will forge onward ... I have managed to lose last weeks gain and an additional 1/2 pound, so that’s 3.5 loss for the week....:D

The TheIrishman has openly stated his intentions to sabotage TheChimp ... Irish Whiskey, no thanks, Irish Stew, no thanks ... now I would be tempted by Corned Beef and Cabbage but in this Chimp’s opinion that’s not worth having without a nice slab of corn bread and I doubt he has a recipe that comes anywhere close to the one great grandma passed down ... But in honor of our newest member and sparring partner I suggest the winner will be the one who has lost the most weight by Saint Patrick’s Day 2010 ... What ya say O'Art? ... Game on?:p

Starting weight..........233
Last Week ..................194

Saints be praised! ;)That sounds like a sporting wager to me!:)

Good O'Job there Cooker! It will be fun having a new bit entertainment: The Art & Cooker Amazing Weight Loss Race.

I've managed to get off 1 of the Thanksgiving pounds. I'm still up nearly 5 over goal.

Of course, this weekend I won't eat, since Jet's got her first obedience trial, and I'll be too nervous - plus all her classes are at midday, and there's no food I can eat at Market Hall.

Those of you with nothing better to do can visit the Texas Kennel Club cluster of dog shows - all breed conformation and obedience, at Market Hall near downtown Dallas Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They'll have lots of vendors so you can pick up those doggy oriented Christmas gifts, too! There is an admission charge - that place is expensive to rent.

Superbob is pleased as punch to stand on the sidelines and cheer on The Chimp and The Irishman! Will lift toasts of green beer in their honor while enjoying hot wings at Hooters. :p

Now that is what I call a throwdown!!! Not sure I want to engage in this mano 'o mano gauntlet throwing thing, but I am intrigued for sure. If you are taking all comers, I might think about joining the fracas, but with an 11 day vacation in the middle of that period I think I am immediately disqualified!
:p:)

Here's something we can all do though in addition to the Chimp vs. the Irishman á Paris proposed challenge. Anyone who wants in - weigh yourself on New Year's Day and plan to weigh again on St. Patty's day and reportyour results and we will add up how much collectively we have all lost. You gotta commit to at least making an effort here. We don't want to ADD pounds! :):):) I'll bet if we got enough takers we could lose the equivalent of a small person. Who's in?

BTW -weigh in for me is tomorrow, but I am not holding my breath. Maybe even snow in Austin tomorrow,:D but not cold enough to stick on pavement - although it'll probably still bring the city to a standstill if it does. It won't be much I'm sure. Next it is supposed to clear up and be really cold Sat night, like 29 degrees or something. I know that sounds whimpy to you yanks and Canadians but for this Texas girl I'm telling you it is cold. You'd d die laughing at how people go nuts over a little bit of snow.

Rhena

P.S. Wherefore art you Art? I wonder if we ever crossed paths before?. I spent a lot of time in Irish pubs in Paris when I lived there and I can tell you there are a lot of them as I wager you probably already know. It was one place you could go and speak English for awhile, if you can call it that! Some times it sounded like a foreign language to me anyway That was many years ago then so who knows. I still have many Irish friends living there. I'll have to PM you and compare notes.

I will "officially" weigh in a little later, but in the meantime, I'll commit to the New Year's to St. Pat's Day diet-thon.;)

Superbob has not been very faithful to his commitments here -- just call him UnsuperBob. But Superbob likes the cooperative throwdown proposed by the gals here (starting with Rhena) as opposed to the mano a mano, macho silliness. So Superbob hereby commits to participate in the New Year's Day to St. Patrick's Day lose-a-thon. (And Superbob will report his end of 2009 results, harking back to start of 2009.)

Oh come on, Mary, just as "no news is good news," so is no gain good news. Congrats!

SB will try to muster the courage to get on scales in the morning. Today he finally found a BTS cranberry-orange scone at the Coastal Grande Starbucks. While eating it, several sweeties offered him "S" but he replied, "No, baby doll, what I am savoring here is BTS." :p;)

Chimpman, I think maybe the Irishman has chickened out.... maybe after a night in the pub his courage will return.

Glad we have some takers on the group St. Patty's day challenge. It helps to have people counting on you 'cause you don't want to let the group down.

Mary - I so agree with SuperBob! Staying the same for 3 weeks is actually a very good thing - particularly given that Thanksgiving was in the middle of that. It could have been much worse.

I am surprised that I actually had a loss - and the best news yet is that I made it just a 'hair' under the 200 mark for the first time in a very very long time. (Speaking of hair - maybe I could lop some off and lose a pound or two.... :)

Drum roll please....
Starting weight: 224

See you around .. losers!

Well, I'm in for the New Year's to St. Patty's COLLECTIVE challenge. I walked around the scales several times yesterday and once this AM before I finally broke down and got on. I think I am down a pound. I weighed in at 184 and was totally amazed since I've been baking all week (and sampling:eek:). I'd have to look up my last weight but I think it is a whole pound. If I'm wrong...please don't tell me!:)

Betty, are you sure that isn't 2 lbs you lost? :) I'm positive it was at least 1. No doubt!

Superbob - thanks for the congrats! It really does feel good to finally reach that milestone, but I'm just a milkshake or so away from blowing it. For some reason today my cravings have been trying to get the better of me. I'm resisting with all my might. A shrinking violet... hee hee! You are so witty!

So far then I count Mary, SB, Betty and of course Cooker's in our St. Pat's lose-a-thon. Might as well count the pounds he will be shedding while beating the shamrocks off the still absent Art. Maybe we can even drag along a few new recruits from the other forums.

Rhena

Our new challenge reminds of those detective TV shows, but in this case it's CLI - NYSP or Continually Losing It - New Years Saint Patty's.

Okay, I'm taking off my silly hat and joining the New Years to Saint Patrick's Day Challenge. That's a good idea to have an extra incentive.

Congrats to you Laurie, Betty and Rhena! Congrats to you too Mary; staying the same weight for three weeks and not expecting it is a win.

Hey Chimp challenger, where Art thou? Better stay out of the Irish stew! Je ne parle pas Irish tres bien or I would have warned of a greater food risk. What is the Irishman's achilles heel, food wise?

Okay, Man of Steel or Man of Jell-O, you decide.

Anyway, this quivering mass got on the scales this morning, finally returning.

Bad news is that Superbob is now 6 pounds from reaching his 2009 goal of losing 20 pounds for the year. Several weeks ago, he was just a pound or two away.

Good news is that SB thought he had backslid even more than that.

Okay The Man of whatever will do an end-of-2009 accounting (doubts he can lose 6 during Christmas and and New Year's -- even The Chimp indicated that was too daunting.)

But then the resurgent Superhero will enthusiastically join the New Year's to St. Paddy's Day combined, cooperative, all-for-one-and-one-for-all lose-a-thin, or thon or thong as you prefer. :):):)

So this is SB's report, such as it is.
