Wussy, huh? :p Well Duffey is a dummy.:p It's a sultana, not a sultan, and a sultana is a white, seedless grape of Turkish, Greek, or Iranian origin. I hear they make a great scone ingredient. ;)

Where is that sharp lady "Ref" we used to have to keep everything straight around here.:D

Just checking to see if you were paying attention, SB.;);)
I knew what a sultan was . . . I've got one hidden away for playtime.:p:p

Lose a thong size (so says TXWildflower);) . . . I think we'll need before and after pictures.;););)

Hee Hee! Trust me.... you do not want to see this!! You will just have to take my word on that! :p

I admit I had no idea what a sultana was myself.... pretty sure it didn't come from the middle east though. Grapes... huh... Why such a fancy name for a grape? Go figure. I don't bake either, but I make a really mean eggnog. I'll have to get my recipe out and share it with y'all. Also the easiest microwave peanut brittle recipe you ever came across. Who needs a stinking candy thermometer anyway???

My problem is going to be how to stop myself from sampling while I'm whipping up the nog and stirring up the peanut brittle - but that is my signature gift to all my friends each year and I guess I have to keep the tradition alive. Yikes! I have to don a swimsuit in less than 30 days.....

How many of us you think can fit into that hog hole??

If you've got a recipe for peanut brittle that doesn't require a candy thermometer, please post it.
I understand the sampling aspect. I have to try every batch of everything that I bake.

My evil contribution:

Bon Bons

One package of Oreo Cookies (why not go for the double-stuffed)

8 oz. cream cheese

20 - 24 oz of Almond Bark

(I did two batches. One batch with regular chocolate Oreos, chocolate almond bark, and cream cheese. The second batch contained the vanilla Oreos, vanilla almond bark, and cream cheese. I swear that the vanilla bon bons are the bomb!)

All you do is crush the Oreos, thoroughly mix with the cream cheese, melt the almond bark in the microwave according to its directions. Then roll a ball by hand about 1 inch in diameter. Dip in the melted almond bark. Place on wax paper or parchment paper. Let the coating harden, which doesn't take too long.

Eat.

There it is, whether you want it or not! Oink.

Gee Wise, you've made my Bon Bons look simple.
I use peanut butter, rice crispies, icing sugar and melted CHOCOLATE

And I was pleased that mine was so simple! The problem for me though is that I don't like peanut butter bon bons and Cindy won't anything sweet with peanut butter.

EDIT: But, mine are SO worth the minimal effort! You should try them!

Well, Sherry’s women’s church group had their annual cookie exchange last night .... I have eight dozen cookies in the house ... oh well:rolleyes:

Are cookie exchanges, a Deep South thing? My DW, too, is preparing to participate in one. I think she said four dozen -- "only" four dozen. Oh well, at least it's not four dozen scones, Superbob's kryptonite. Maybe fruitcake cookies will come back, which the Man of Steel, amazingly, actually doesn't like. :)

Yes ... it is something that can not be avoided:D

About 7 years ago one of my neighbours hosted a cookie exchange....yes, each person baked 4 dozen cookies of one type to swap with others. All I remember is being a total, exhausted wreck afterwards. Taste testing, then most of the cookies I gave away as gifts.
