I go back to see him Monday. I still have the iv in for now. He said he wants to keep an eye on my blood work as the inflamitory markers are still elavated. Thank you everyone for your posts. They are like getting hugs from you guys. :) I will let you know what doc has to say on Monday.

Are they doing echos or anything beside the bloodwork? It must have been a relief to hear the latest blood cultures were negative. I hope you only get good news from now on.

yes it was a huge relief to hear the blood cultures came back negative this time... I am going for another TEE in mid oct after the antibiotics have run the full 6 weeks.
Lets pray it is good news from here on out... :)

Coming waaayyyy late to this thread, but just wanted to say how glad I am that everything seems to be looking up! I started reading from the beginning and got concerned and then was sooooo relieved when I got to the end and things are looking up for you! I am also praying that this is the last hurdle you have to jump!

Tomorrow I am going for another TEE test. It's stressing me out because I am not sure how 20 minutes of gagging will affect my sore sternum. :(
x-Ray didn't show anything wrong. It seems to be getting better slowly. I never thought this recovery would turn out like it has.

wish me luck!

ok... I have come to the conclusion that the sedative they use doesn't work on me... I had another lovely gag session and being fully alert during the whole process. Lets just say it wasn't much fun... :( First of all the nurse couldn't get an iv in me... poke, poke, poke... so they called in their iv unit who deals with picc lines and got them to hook into my picc line. This all took time and the hospital was behind an hour due to me and my iv issues. I asked for extra sedative and they looked up what I had the last time.. (they said 4) this time they gave me 10. Normally it is about a 20 min test, I was there for at least an hour.. they did the echo down my throat and then they did the standard echo. The cardiologist never said a word to me, last time he did but not this time.. soon as he was done he left the room and I never saw him again.. The nurse kept asking afterwards "aren't you tired or feeling sleepy" Nope nothing just get me out of here..lol
Anyways its over, it was needed, and hopefully I can move on. I am calling today as I didn't get any word yesterday on my test. No news is good news so they say so I am going with that.. :) I will keep ya posted!

yes it is 6am here.. I have been up for awhile... sleep is not my friend these days.. :)
It is kind of hard to get comfortable enough and this machine wakes me every 4 hrs when it goes off.. sleep is over rated anyways! :)

Penny, did you call yet? I hope all is well and you can have things easier now. When I had my TEE before surgery and my leak was worse than they thought I had three surgeons and a cardiologist grilling me on every illness and bug bite I've ever had, asking me if I took weightloss drugs, cocaine, etc etc. So them not saying anything is probably good.

no call back... I called the cardiologist's office and left a msg that I would like a call back... nothing... hopefully monday! The infectious disease specialist has extended my meds until the 29th... no call from him either as to why... some days I wonder how they would feel walking a mile in my shoes.. sorry just having a little pity party over here...
:mad2:

You have the right to complain, I've ditched many doctors and kept many based on their call back times. I'd ask for sleeping mess for all the sleepless nights you have waiting for their returned calls. Maybe they'd get the point then.

Penny,

This is frustrating. Somehow, I am more tolerant these days when such a thing happens than I was before my surgery. After my cardio dropped the news that I needed surgery on me, I called his office three times to ask for surgeon's names. He did not return any of my calls! Then, I left a message with his assistant that if he did not have the time to call back, he could suggest names to any of them in his office and they could call me back. She assured me that she put the messages on his desk. Then I told her that was my last call and if I did not hear back from them, then I will not trust him on my heart!!

So, I did not go back to him! Yet, when he asked my PCP about me and that he wanted to see me, I went and I was blunt with him and why I stopped going to him. Of course, he blamed the assistants!!

I am so lucky with the cardio I have now! I hope he won't change.

I hope you hear good news on Monday.

well I got a call from the assistant... he won't be in the office till tomorrow.. lets hope he calls. I imagine if there were some issue I would have gotten a call from someone.. keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Have you conciderred getting new doctors when this is all said and done?
