My wife made me ask my surgeon, (three days off vent) when we could engage in sex again, he said "if it doent cause pain or put stress on my sternum go for it but be gentle". we tried the day after discharge, i felt if its gonna kill me i was gonna go happy, im still here 3 yrs later so it worked alright. i did go to a heart support group 4 wks post op and low and behold the subject was "erectile dysfunction and the heart patient". set the brain up for dicussions with my cardialogist that i would not have had if i didnt go to that meeting. so to all those with questions; ask away your docs have heard it all, it was difficult asking about ED at 37yrs old. my doc was very nice about it and it wasnt as uncomfortable as i had thought.
