    Valerie Hope Raley Moriarty 02/29/1980-11/16/2009

Yes, I still think about Val, from time to time. I also wonder about her husband, and two darling little children. She seemed such an optimist. A person that did not become bitter,or angry because of all her problems. I believe she was a very special lady.

    Dizzy, no explanation

Malibu, I DO understand COMPLETELY what you are saying about feeling like the surgery has ruined your life. I had complications (and still have bouts of pericarditus) that has made me feel the same way. Having said that though, I believe in time things WILL get better for you, and once...

    Dizzy, no explanation

I have never experienced this problem from heart surgery, BUT had vertigo several years ago, and tinnitus from a middle ear infection. The tinnitus almost drove me mad!!

Yes, low dose aspirin is taken for your lifetime after tissue valve surgery. I take daily myself. I have had absolutely no problems.

pericardial effusion post Mitral Valve replacement

I don't know the statistics, but I believe it's a bit more common that maybe patients might think. I also, had pericardial effusion and a pericardial window done one week after my AVR.

Pain in Sternum from 2nd Surgery --- more or less than the first?

Dependinig on just how long this valve lasts, I would choose a tissue valve second time around too. So far, so good. (it's been almost three yrs now.) At my last echo and consultation, my cardio actually used the word "perfect" to describe my echo report. Let's just hope "little piggy" keeps...

Possible cause of vision disturbances after OHS

Michelle I have had migrain "auras" for years. Since I was about 20 yrs. I really didn't notice a difference with that after my AVR, but I can tell you I had to have my eyeglass prescription changed twice! My vision was more blurry after the surgery, so I was prescribed a stronger lense...

    Surgery set for Nov. 2

Good to hear it's over Chris! Sounds like you are doing well. My cardio told me when I had my AVR the wires were titanium. I emailed my surgeon, and he said they used stainless steel. I have had a bit of sensitivity with one of my wires, but it does not seem to be a problem. You'll be...

    Weevils --- Darn it!!!

Norma, I had an issue with weevils and corn meal, years ago. They love the stuff! I just threw it out, and started using cornbread packets. That's the only problem I can recall. Good luck!

    First day w/o PVCs

I am truly VERY HAPPY for you Michelle! I think eventually you will hardly get them at all. Remember though, if you do start experiencing a reoccurence, it most like is temporary, I know from experience. I hardly get them at all any more, and I had quiet a few. Hugs
