Post-exercise fatigue at almost one year post AVR

I would also mention this to your GP - tiredness could also mean something unrelated to your heart like a thyroid condition

Today feels like a new day

Hi Canon, Just sending you positive healing thoughts your way!!!! So sorry that you're going through a rough patch, no fun! I think you're handling things much better than I would if I had to go through all you've been through, (I would have pulled my husband out of work) Really hope things...

    Post Op effects.

Glad to hear that you're on your way! Yes, your symptoms post-surgery sound normal to me. Right after my surgery my heart would beat so hard that I swear my heart was shaking my entire body! My resting pulse rate was in the 90's and it didn't take much for it to get to 120 - I also had bright...

    Angiograms before surgery?

I did not have the typical angiogram – but I did have a MRA (magnetic resonance angiogram) with contrast dye as well as a CT with the contrast. Because I had these two tests, I also had x-rays taken right before surgery but they were done without dye. The MRA is a long test. I was 45 (weeks shy...

    Bicuspid Valve - Longevity

Thanks for your post Dick - I've run into a similar problem - before my surgery my husband could cover me at a higher amount for life insurance than he could after surgery - although after my surgery I'm much less likely die suddenly - go figure. :confused2: Makes no sense - but there you have it.

    Bacterial endocarditis?

After my surgery I used the Listerine as well - but it caused my gums to bleed. The dentist confirmed that I had a reaction to the Listerine. I now use a prescription mouthwash to kill the bacteria after I floss and brush. Works for me

I've noticed that after a glass of wine my blood pressure goes down and my resting heart rate goes up (but just a little)

Tissue Valve and Future Percutaneous Replacement

I'm with you Neil - OHS is fine with me because I kind of think it's better to see what's going on when everything is opened up - but I'm not a doctor so I don't know. If I have OHS next time, then I'm good with that. If by the time I'm ready for a third one and they do the percutaneous...

    Exercise Post Aneurysm Repair

Oh - I got the Johnson reference - Canon4me you crack me up!!!! Good one This is the information that I got - I'm two years out from a valve replacement and an ascending aorta repair. I enjoy running. I had a cardiac MRA last February and my surgeon looked me square in the eyes and told me that...

    Clearing some things up

This is EXCELLENT advice!!!! I didn't have AFIB, and I really don’t remember how far I walked during my recovery, but I do remember doing what DebbyA posted above - that and an accepting attitude of what I was and was not able to do on any given day really helped me. I know I walked at least...

    I'm pumped up!

I don’t know anything about the drug you listed, but I think you’ve got a GREAT attitude going now!!!! That's the way to heal! Keep up the good work!

    Vicodan - How long?

I think this question will vary depending on your body chemistry and your pain threshold - I think the most important guide is how you specifically feel - if you stop taking Vicodin and do not have pain, then switch to something else, but if you're still in pain and need it, then by all means...

    Nausea and decreased appetite

I had similar experiences, for about a week after surgery most food tasted horrible and I was HUNGRY!!!! I was off of all pain meds the second day after my surgery so I didn't get the nausea so much, but I did lose a lot of valuable weight. Once my taste buds returned to normal I had fun...
