    New Job

That's wonderful, congratulations! I work in an office and sometimes I'm stuck at my desk so long, I have to tell myself to get up and move! I'm sure You'll like it better than standing all day!

    work release

If your job is that stressful, maybe another 2 weeks at home will do you good. Not to sound harsh...but nobody is indispensible. Also, I try to remember that nobody ever died saying "I wish I worked more." If the doctor won't give it to you, maybe his experience with prior patients tells him to...

I am taking lasix in the morning and have noticed that I'm not using the bathroom as much as I did in the beginning...hmmm.

    Pain 2 weeks out?

The PT guy in the hospital gave me a schedule for walking...first week 5 min a day - he said distance didn't matter, the time does. So, we set the timer for 2.5 min, walk a ways, and turn around and come back. I always feel good when I do that. Every week I am to add 3 to 5 min to the walk, so...

    Pain 2 weeks out?

Two weeks ago today I had my AVR and aortic wrap surgery. Things were going great...till today. my back is killing me; when I lean forward or go to get up out of a chair or sitdown, just to the left of my incision - it brings me to tears. Everyday felt like I was getting better and better - went...

    Silly Questions...Do's and Don'ts...

notes on bras notes on bras Harley - this is probably way too much info for some, but here goes...I had a mastectomy with no reconstruction and therefore just have one boobie. I took a sleeper bra (snaps in front and not very much support) to the hospital, and wished I took a good one - my...

    Minimally Invasive Post Op

11 days out 11 days out Kandice - I had "minimally invasive" surgery on 10/22. No one said it was a more painful surgery - and I didn't think to ask that. I can't say I've had much pain since they removed the drainage tubes. The only severe pain I had was in the middle of the night on day 2...

    Biggest Suprises

Kandice - I was glad to read about the breast pain - I have it too. My right breast is very sore - I had a huge bruise on the inside, so I thought they were just pushing it out of the way. The top of my arms are sore too. I'm just 12 days out - still exhausted!

A Valve Replacement in my Future...

Louise - welcome to the board. You sure have been thru alot. I can relate to the "I thought I was getting old thing" - I thought I was just getting fat when I was out of breath! LOL I wanted to comment on choice of valve - I was worried about getting a tissue valve and having a repeat surgery...

    Biggest Suprises

Great thead! Great thead! My biggest surprises were the thirst on waking up (felt like the Sahara desert in my mouth); no tubes down throat when woken up; that I don't remember a darn thing from my 3 shifts in the ICU except the nurses names; when I woke up in the middle of my 2nd night with...

    Donnamarie's surgery - oink oink

I miss the bed and the people there - but the last 2 nights I barely got 2 hours sleep. My room was just by the nurses station and it was noisy all night. I felt like I was on Grey's Anatomy! LOL I could hear their conversations and stuff - it was a riot.

    Donnamarie's surgery - oink oink

James - I like that! I told work at least 4 weeks - so I'm covered. I work 10 min from home at a computer most of the day - it's very flexible - I can even work at home for some of it if I want. We'll see.

    3 days?

Congrats Kman! sorry about the speed bump though. Sounds like you're on the upside now. I also had my AVR surgery on the 22nd and thought I could get out in 3 days - glad I didn't push it. Friday was fine. I feel so much better now that I'm home. The doctor told me that 1 day at home is like 3...

Nice to know! Thanks! I can't wait to sleep flat and be able to roll over. Today I took a 4 min walk around my house outside, then a shower! Needed a nap after that! LOL

    Donnamarie's surgery - oink oink

Well, here I am - over the mountain in more ways than one! I'm now 51 years old and have a new porcine valve! My family and friends are all into the pig jokes! I went in on monday, 10/22 and came home friday 10/26. There was talk of me going home on thursday, but I didn't push it, and besides I...

    Here goes... everything

Nick - I think you're in good hands at HUP. They have such a good reputation. I live in Chester County, PA and am having my AVR surgery at Lankenau on Monday. I wonder what "other" heart valve team your doctor is on, do you know?

    Ha Ha

Oh my god, I have a 16yo named Chris - and believe me, it's the same! Stress & Chris - the same subject - love it! One tiny example - he doesn't have a driving permit, let alone a license and decided to take my car for a ride at 1:00 am this summer. Lost control, went off the road, flat...
