Warfarin, weekly doses and doctors' stubbornness

These are lies I report in and in August for me to test 4 times in a month I was out of range and was trying to get back slowly (my doc doesn't need the details) 2.7 to 3.2 are real values. Below or above that are what they need to know while I make my adjustments

Warfarin, weekly doses and doctors' stubbornness

I am in the camp of managing weekly dosage not daily. I don't really see the value of a micro daily dose adjustment than to think in terms 50mg a week divided into 7 doses and if you need 10% more dosage per week add 2.5mg on some alternate days during the week. I do 10/7.5/7.5 and if need be...

    What's for dinner?

Heart healthy works on weight and cardiovascular system so lower carbs, more fruits, veggies and fiber rich foods. If you lose weight, you are doing good. If you lower your cholesterol or blood pressure you doing good too for your heart.

    New study 2025

This is undisputed common knowledge at this point. What we are left with is lifestyle choices - i don't want to tick like a bomb, i *hate* warfarin....that's the huddle to get over lol

    After 14 months I missed a dose of warfarin…

I have missed a whole lot of doses. Just take the dose when you remember but dont double your next scheduled dose to make up...you may break the missed dose so that your weekly dose stays the same by distributing it over the remaining days. Until I test, I live in the my last 2 readings showed I...

interesting video here about valve choices

We don't need silly stats. Just read through and see the bioprosthetics re ops in this thread. 3rd/4th redo...and ask yourself the pains in the months to the surgery, wondering what is wrong, why you are out of breath. Could you have a heart attack? Yes. A stroke? Yes. Heart failure? Yes...

    Imminent re-operation of heart valve

Vitdoc is on point. Your have every right to play Russian Roulette, it is your life. However, letting people understand that fears of meds, ticking and bio valve longevity are not as feared is not pressuring. You could be the one 40 year old to go 20 years with bovine valve but that is...

    34 years came and went…

17...wow. It must have been hard as a teen worrying about warfarin and INR. God bless and many more years.

Ha! Live life. Stenosis is stenosis...keep your bp in range and all you may have to do is monitor it. Things you can't fix, why worry about them?

    One year in Iowa, USA

I have plenty of PVCs especially when stressed and with coffee but never considered ablation. They are annoying especially with a mechanical valve because you hear them but I am sure they have been with me for years. Best wishes.

    Yet Another Colonoscopy Question

There is nothing like a colonoscopy without removing polyps. They go in, they see stuff and if there is stuff, it's gotta be removed. I think the question is, and I don't have the answer, if you stop Warfarin and drop your INR slowly to say 1.4 have your procedure and restart Warfarin after...

    Mechanical Aortic Valve Gradients

Usually 5 minute echo? Are you talking EKG/ECG but that's only electrical. My echos take almost 30 minutes. How someone does a 1 minute echo? I guess they just narrow it down to the valve and ignore the rest of the heart.

7 days post op and home.

Use that devils device to breathe....blow that stupid ball as high as you can and hold that chest pillow tight for the cough it will trigger...your bones will rattle but no pneumonia
