about 6 weeks prior to my surgery I went and had the depo injection to try and stop me from having a period and it worked until I woke up in ICU with them asking was I due for my period, I was like.. What the??? The nursing staff where really good about it and said it is quite common.. I continued for about 10 days then stopped and still nothing and I am 10 weeks post OHS now!!! I think your body just tries to sort itself out!!!

It's been interesting reading this thread and I think the message is...... What a huge trauma this surgery is to our bodies. All our systems are impacted and our whole body needs to reset itself after this serious surgery. Intellectually we know stopping our hearts, cutting into it and replacing parts and pieces is about as serious as it gets but it is hard to truly and completely digest and comprehend just what we endure.

What strong people we all are to face this and agree to go forward and have it done.
Kudos to us all

I'm thinking the anti-coagulants might be a contributing factor as well.
Anyway, if you are not on the pill right now, you might not have time for your body to "settle in" to the meds before your surgery. When I first started the pill it took a few months before everything acted the way it was supposed to. Based on what everyone says here, you might as well expect a period on day 2. Bring supplies.

Best of luck with your surgery.
