Hi Jim ~ Happy Holidays to you too Jim! I loved the pictures of your trains. Brings back memories from my childhood. Our friends had two rooms full of trains, from little ones to big ones, and when we went to their home i would have spent all my time watching them, if my parents had let me, since i loved them so much. They had made the most beautiful little towns too, with mountains for the trains to go through, and houses that lit up, and bushes, trees and flowers. I hope you get as much enjoyment from your trains as i did from seeing them as a child!

Yeah, it's probably the x thing; it could just be a crossing; but if a train can take either of two paths, it's a slip switch; if that works in all directions, it's a double slip switch.
I watched a Thomas video with my grandson, and I wanted to see the layout where they filmed it, but I couldn't find it online.
I was into HO, scratchbuilding stuff, but ran out of room, so mine is all in boxes.

There is also a set of crossing bars just to left of the picture - I think I missed them in the picture
That's a mirror in the background, so you can see the inside of the mountain

And I thought mine was big because it was on a 7ft x 5ft table. pfffft.

Love your trains. Looks like you've got quite a collection. Thanks for sharing. If you're ever out this way, there's a model train museum near here. I've never been but I hear it's pretty good. Happy Winter Solstice.

I have just bought my son, his first hornby train set for christmas. Now i know where to come for help :D
